    I've never read Harry Potter / seen any of the movies, so I don't get the reference. But it's nms.

    Ginevra is Ginny's full name. Also, I'm not considering it for my baby, but I came across it on another forum and was curious what people thought.

    Yeah, it does to me too. I am a life long HP fan though, and I have never seen that name anywhere but HP.

    I do love Ginny for a NN, and might try to see if I can get away with it with our #1 girl name choice of Genevieve. Not exact, but close!

    I also am considering Cedric for a boy which makes me think of HP too, so I'm not going to cast stones to someone referencing their fave book with a baby name (as long as it's not Twilight or 50 Shades lol)

    Interesting that you're considering Ginny/ie for Genevieve! I've only ever heard it for Virginia! Its cute! As for Ginevra...that sounds like some fantastical creation of JK Rowling.

    According to Behind The Name, it's the Italian form of Guinevere. But I've only ever heard it used in HP. Like PP, I'm a huge Potter fan *pokes avatar* so I was just curious if the majority would automatically think the same or only big fans of the books.

    Never read HP but the first thing i thought when I saw this was "is that a typeo? Did she mean Minerva?"

    It does make me think of Harry Potter but that's the only place I have ever seen the name. Same with Hermione. I think Ginny is an adorable name but I'm not crazy about Ginevra.
