I like to be comfy and have my feet up, a lot of the rockers don't have that though! Based on your experience what is the best for nursery? And too crazy to get white?
I have a glider left from my DD. I wish I had gotten a gliding recliner. I spent many late nights in that chair wishing I could prop up my feet and lean back.
I have a glider and I almost never used it because we co-sleep and I would just nurse DD laying down. Still, the glider was on the upper-end of what you can get at babies r us and it was pretty uncomfortable. I would have much rather had a recliner.
We have a glider. It was just ok but some nights I HATED it. There were nights my tailbone just throbbed from sitting there nursing her, especially if she was sick or going through a growth spurt and I was spending much more time than normal in it. That being said we have a lazy boy rocker/recliner in our living room that is very comfortable but I never felt safe nursing her in the middle of the night if I was exhausted because it was so cozy that I feared falling asleep in it with her. I'm not opposed to co-sleeping at all if done safely but IMO a recliner isn't safe. So it's kind of a toss up. But I've decided to continue using the glider we have for DS once be arrives.
As for white,...lord, I can't imagine having anything white in my house. Between kids and pets.... )
I slept in a recliner with my son the first few weeks, it was okay when he was a little little baby BC I could have him propped on the nursing pillow. I won't go that route again though. Most likely will just sleep on the couch for the first few weeks.
I have a recliner from best chairs that I bought at a local baby boutique. It is super comfy, made in the US, and doesn't look like a baby chair. Currently it is in our living room until the new baby comes. I like that it can be used as a regular chair once we are done having babies.
I got a rocker with ottoman as a hand me down. Wasnt planning on buying one otherwise. I cant imagine nursing in it - constant motion gives me motion sickness. I did rock dd in it to sleep for few months. Now it just sits in dd's room and i use it to sit on to read her bedtime story. Will probably use this one for this LO and just buy reg comfy chair for dd's room. Imo this one is totally not needed (for me). I used but only because i already had it for free, wouldnt feel much loss if i didnt. Oh and i never used the ottoman. It just sits in the garage
We had a rocker with an ottoman. My husband didn't like it so we sold it. We are looking for a new one this time. I found an awesome rocker that is also a recliner at BRU. I think I want a small ottoman too for the days that I don't want to recline. We are still deciding.
Friends bought me a glider with ottoman 7 years ago for DD1. The motion is relaxing but my issue is that it's too narrow to nurse or cuddle a little one to sleep. (and I'm not a large person) It was barely used for DD2. I think I would rather have a bit wider rocker/recliner so it has better function for our family
We had an old La-Z-Boy recliner for the longest time at my parents' house. I mostly remember my dad using it, but it may very well have been used for us when we were wee ones. Since my sister moved back in before having her first, and I was still in high school at the time, I helped out with him a lot and that chair was great for snuggling and rocking (it may sound strange, but it made a springy sound when it rocked, and I always found that super-soothing). I think I'd opt for a rocking recliner if given the choice, but I certainly wouldn't balk if something else was purchased for me.
My only advice is don't get the gliders with wooden arms..my elbows go numb. And my son's legs get caught between the wood pieces and make him frustrated while he tries to nurse.
I have a glider with an ottoman and wishedi had a recliner. My glider was also a little to narrow until baby got a little bigger and I didn't need a nursing pillow anymore.
Just bought a glider w/ ottoman while at buy buy baby. Floor model + coupon = $200 off! It was SO comfy. I tried out a few, recliners are sometimes hard for me bc I can't push the thing back in with my feet all the time. But this feels just as comfy! Color I wanted but you can also order a lot of options. Arms are nice height too. Good size but not huge ( we have a smaller nursery ) Picking up tomo, can't wait!
I had a padded glider with ottoman and still use it for my 2yr old if he isn't settling to bed, etc. No opinions on the others, but I especially loved having somewhere to put my feet up and rock easily.
I have a rocking recliner (a smaller laz e boy) I absolutely love it! It's comfortable enough to sleep in if need be. I sat in different chairs and laid my head back in each to see which one was the most comfortable to lay in longer periods. I personally don't like gliders or wooden rocking chairs because my arms aren't comfortable on them and I get very uncomfortable if I sit too long in them.
Re: Past moms- glider, rocker, or recliner?
