I never realized how important it was to keep LO's cooking to full term until I had my daughter 11 weeks early. She weighed just under 2 pounds at birth and spent 52 days in the NICU. Now, 8 weeks later we have an amazingly healthy 4 pounder who we finally got to bring home yesterday! Although I know it's getting rather uncomfortable and you want to meet your LO so bad, don't wish away your last few weeks as they still need to get stronger to come into this crazy world! Here's to happy, healthy and adorable babies. Good luck everyone!!!
Re: Keep calm and go 40!
Many people don't realize the feeding, breathing, and temperature control issues that babies can have before 39-40 weeks. Even at 37-38 weeks babies can have much more trouble coordinating sucks and swallows, and their breathing. Although you may be uncomfortable, if you have the option #gothefull40.
This is not in any way shaming or looking down on those who go before 39-40 weeks, sometimes it isn't preventable! It's just a nice little reminder that although we feel like beached whales who can't possibly be pregnant one day longer, it's for the best!
Thanks for your story!! Makes it easier to stay positive.
My circle of friends and family already know not to ask me a damn thing, lol. She'll get here when she gets here!
Glad your precious baby is better and all of my best to you.
