3rd Trimester

Nursing Bras

Hi everyone. I am 32 weeks and haven't been having any issues yet with needing to change bras sizes until recently. I live in a small town in northern Iowa and I was wondering where to go to find nursing bras. There are not many places around my town that even carry maternity clothing. But here is the other problem. I am not a small person when it comes to waist size. (2x some 3x before pregnancy, did loose 20 lbs during the first 2 trimesters and now am back up to previous preg weight because of baby and much better appetite) But because of size, I'm having problems finding things especially when it comes to support. I know I can order online at motherhood.com, but I would much rather try things on before purchase. Any suggestions, even if your not from Iowa, I could always see if the store is a store that is somewhere in Iowa. Thanks for advice in advance!

Re: Nursing Bras

  • I think they have them at Target.  However, if I were you I would order a couple of different size options online from some place like Motherhood/Destination Maternity.  Try them on and return what doesn't work.

I love the Gillian and Omally ones from Target! They are on sale with cartwheel right now as well!

I live in iowa! There are a few motherhood stores around the state (Coralville, Des Moines, davenport for sure). There's a place in Cedar Rapids called birth, baby and beyond that is a great sizing resource! I don't know how far you are from those... I agree looking online is tough! I ordered from from motherhood online before realizing underwire isn't a good place to start (screws up milk ducts when your milk starts to come in). I may just stick to nursing tanks and sports bras that I can pull up until I know what I want. I have heard great things about bravado, but I have a hard time figuring out the sizing chart online.
  • Check with the lactation department at your hospital. Mine carries Bravado and you can try them on before you go home! It's not the cheapest option but the fir would be better.
