July 2015 Moms

how ready are you for baby?

I have 9 weeks to go. Baby shower in 4 weeks. Only thing we've bought is the travel system we wanted. Have a few clothes my sil got us. I'm just not in a rush to set up babies area. Don't plan on using a crib, other options planned. And for the first several months she'll be in our extra large bedroom so not preparing a room separately for her.

Re: how ready are you for baby?

  • I will be 33 weeks tomorrow. We have his crib, changing table, travel system, pack n play, clothes, and room decorations..... None of which is set up. Don't know when I'll get that "nesting" urge I keep hearing about, I just don't have the energy.

I guess I can start by washing baby's clothes.

Haha, sounds familiar!  I'm 32w2d with a baby shower next weekend, but other than that, I have a solid handful of onsies and a blanket that have been given to us...not much to go by for welcoming our baby boy!  I comfort myself with the fact that I do have most items picked out and on my registry, so after the shower, I will go through and start buying what I still need.

My biggest nesting urge has been more in the line of going through my closet and just pitching all the crap I have there that I don't really use (why do I still have leftover ribbon from my wedding?!?)  That is my Memorial weekend plan, throw out/give away/organize everything so we are ready for any baby stuff that comes our way!

We are pretty much set (but having twins so they will be born by June 26 at 38 weeks... At the latest). We have the nursery done, all our gear is bought and put together and baby bag is packed. Today I started packing my bag with the robes and nursing tanks/bras I bought as well as travel toiletries. Still need to install car seats and organize our stockpile of diapers.

We also just moved and I got rid of so much crap... It felt amazzzzzing! House is clean, nesting in full swing and can't wait for the girls to arrive!

  • I'm due in 9 weeks, having a little "sprinkle" with 4 friends on June 14th. DH says no buying anything to complete our registry until after the sprinkle.

Car seat is stored in our storage space 15 minutes from home, stroller is in the car (but because we use it occasionally for DS) but the infant car seat adapter is also in storage, along with our bouncer seat. Crib is currently disassembled in pieces stored in the kids' room and we have no mattress.... I have the baby's clothes and cloth diapers sorted and in drawers but they need to be washed. No hospital bag packed.

I feel like I have a LONG way to go, and it's kind of stressing me out!

I'm almost 31 weeks & I'm completely ready lol.. Have her nursery done, everything set up. If she came today I'd have everything I need! I have my baby shower in 2 weeks & I'm hoping I get an infant swing & a carrier, other than that I just asked for diapers & little things!
  • If baby came today, we'd manage. The only thing I don't have yet is baby's bassinet that is at my mom's house. Many of the things used in the beginning, we already have from DD. I also have washed and put away all of baby's clothes and started buying diapers in sizes Newborn and 1.
After this weekend, our DD will start sleeping in her big girl room that we did for her birthday and I can begin working on the nursery. DD slept in our room for the first 5 weeks, so I'm in no rush to get the nursery done quickly. Although I'm sure I'll have no desire to do anything with my free time except sleep for the first couple of weeks!

I don't feel even remotely ready. I'm crazy with work and feel like I'm letting the ball drop in both areas. I'll have to start prioritizing soon (or yesterday). Oh well, can't do everything 100%, 100% of the time.  :-<
  • I need a few bigger items still and then the miscellaneous diapers, medical kits, wipes and random little things here and there.

Her take home outfit is in the mail <3 then I will need to find a comfy gown and slippers for myself and her hospital bag will be ready.

  • The biggest thing I need to do is clean the car seat (we're reusing since it's not expired). I should probably get some bottles, wash clothes (also mostly reused... Yay for same gender!) and get him a dresser... I feel like we've got some diapers and a bassinet, so we'll be fine. Babies really don't need much for the first month or 2.
  • @kmode13 , lol @ "solid handful of onesies." I'm 32w 3d. Shower was Sunday. We have the travel system, extra 3-in-1 carseat, crib, pack and play, bassinet coming (from colleague), lots of clothes, tons of diapers and wipes, baby toiletries. No bottles, no breast pump...and need a mattress pad. Phew!
Going Monday to tackle the need-to-buy items.
  • 33w2d probably we have all necessary stuff, but do I feel ready.?? Not really haha I'm a FTM so... :-??

I have 6 weeks and 4 days until my scheduled c section... I'm ready but not. Lol. I have a few things left to get for her. My baby shower is in 4 weeks as well. I have the necessities, my mom had all the baby stuff from my other 2 in her storage, and I had said I wasn't going to have any more kids, and someone needed some baby stuff so she gave it all to them.. I was really upset, but got over it... Until I got pregnant. I didn't bring it back up because she felt bad for it back then.. And then felt worse when I told her I was pregnant.. So she's pretty much bought everything I have. She still is buying me stuff every chance she gets. So I have ALOT of clothes. And basic needs.
  • I have 7 weeks to go, we have travel system, diaper genie, clothes, a few size newborn and size 1 diapers, 2 boxes of wipes, 3 receiving blankets, a walker. That's it! My babyshower is in 2 weeks , I'll be 35 weeks pregnant. I'm missing the crib, which someone has offered to buy it as a babyshower gift. I'm a ftm, so I think I'm 60 percent ready lol
  • We have pretty much everything, just waiting for babies carpet to be done in her room. We do need a breast pump..but that's it :) 33+1 days, we had everything ready because the doctor was going to take her early BUT everything is looking ok so far so we are just waiting. Day by day thing :) I can't wait for her to come and the closer it gets the more I want to buy more things just to make sure we have everything! Haha :D

I'd say we're 90% ready. If she came today we'd be doing pretty good- my family/friends shower was this past weekend and that of course helped a ton. Nurserys painted, we refinished dresser, have a crib/changing station, travel system, and a glider that's coming in a few days. Tons of clothes mostly because my mom, MIL and myself can't help ourselves when we see something cute plus from the shower. Have 50 or so cloth diapers, breast pump, some bottles and bath stuff... Really just need a pack & play and for my husband to install the ceiling fan! My coworkers are throwing their own shower for me in June, so pretty soon all well need is a baby!
  • 5w + 5d left and nothing is set up. I actually had to disassemble some things last week cause my husband said its just in the way cause we aren't using it yet. I was super pissed about it.
I told him since we have limited space we should set up now that way we can figure out where to put things now instead of last minute.
And not to mention its better to be prepared.
So we're setting up the bassinet and I'll be washing clothes this weekend.

  • I'm a few days shy of 31 weeks. His nursery is 90% done. We just need to hang some wall art. We've already paid the deposit and registered him for his daycare for once I return to work. Other than that we have nothing! My baby shower is in 5 weeks so we will see how that turns out. We also need to start looking for a pediatrician ASAP. I seriously can't believe I'm going to be a mom in 2 months. Wow!

almost 31 weeks, and we have travel system, crib (not put together), and clothes. I'd say like 10% prepared lol
But we have 2 baby showers coming up so hopefully it helps
  • If she came now, I'd only have pampers, baby toiletries, and clothes...mostly what friends/coworkers, family, and students have bought me. But that's it LOL And I'm 33+5 weeks! I don't know what I'm waiting for! Oh I do have the car seat. I still need to buy my bassinet and crib. Maybe since I'm officially out for summer vacation, I can take care of that in the next week or so! I have two showers in the next few weeks (I didn't ask for them. My friends and family OFFERED to do these showers) so I'm sure I'll be stocked up on diapers and clothes for MONTHS!
  • 85% ready. Nursery is done but not completely ready with the necessities. Shower number 1 is next week and shower number 2 is the week after. Luckily, school is out then too. I plan on finishing the registry, organizing, and packing the bags after that. I'm 30 weeks now. Can't wait!
  • 34+2 have pretty much everything but need to wash all clothes, pack hospital bags and put in the car seat. Hopefully we will tackle that this weekend. As for mentally ready I would say no. I am both hugely excited and somewhat terrified at the same time. Anybody else?
  • I'm 31+3 days we have the crib set up in our dining room because we got the floor model for cheaper and it will not fit into the doorway of the nursery so we have to take it apart we just haven't done that yet. We just finished painting for the most part. We still need to rip up the carpets which will do next month. Put the crown molding in. My baby shower is next weekend. We only have about four outfits for him. We have tons of wipes and a lot of class diapers. Other than that we have the stroller car seat and that's it.
  • im 32weeks and 5 days,
we have the room semi painted.
i have the crib and sheets, plus we just had out baby shower last weekend.
i have to start doing laundry for little man.
    clothes galore !
plus tons of diapers and wipes !
we're getting a car seat and stroller shortly,
i still need a dresser, playpen changing mattress, and high chair..
but thats soon enough i hope.
    so far so good though.

  • We have everything we need besides figuring out the stupid car seat. We have a convertible but apparently this hospital makes each baby have a car seat test before leaving the hospital so convertible won't work. Never had to do this with my other two.

  • We have the bassinet set up, car seat ready and some diapers. Way ahead of where we were last time haha. I'll wash a couple outfits this weekend and feel like were ready to go!
  • I am a little ready. We have to put breadboard up in the baby's room still. Once that is finished, I have the bassinet to set up and that's it. I might be overly ready. Like the car seat is already in my car...
  • The only thing we have left that NEEDS to get done before baby arrives is installing the car seat. The nursery still needs to get organized but she will be sleeping in our room in a Pack n Play for the first few months anuway

  • I am 31n4 days and I am 60% ready! We are in the process of moving this week and everything is a total chaos !! I'm totally stress out. My baby shower was this past Saturday and eveything was beutiful but i didn't get much of the items in my registry so we have to buy eveything once we are in our new apartment. I have the travel system, crib, Glider which we bought before I left on maternity leave at six months since i started having premature labor. I received in my shower pack and play, diapers, wipes, baby lotions, bottles, clothes and other baby essentials. I guess once i am all settle in in my new place i cant start organizing and buying eveything else im I am missing.

I have the crib, I'm waiting for the "big furniture with a lot of drawers" (I can't remember the word!!!) to be delivered on Monday, I've the pack and play, tub and most of the clothes. My baby is also sharing our room until we move (somewhere between December and May) so I'm not decorating anything other than some "Brave" decals behind the crib. I still need to buy: bottles, sterilizer, stroller, diapers, rocking chair, diapers and breast pump. I can't think of anything else I'm missing so if anyone has any advice that would be great! It's been almost 6 years since I had my son :)
  • @ashleytiff this was my thought process too. The baby's room use to have all of our laundry related stuff in it so about a month ago I took it all out and said we are living without this room until the baby gets here. My husband previously had shown no interest in getting anything ready at all. So to get him interested in finding new solutions for storage and space I thought I'd let him see what it would get like if we just left it with no solution and let it get messy. It has actually worked pretty well, he got so tired of the mess around the outside of the room that he has suddenly become interested in new storage solutions lol
  • I still need a carseat, infant bath sling, bottles, wipes, burp cloths, more diapers, nasal aspirator, breast pump. The basics!!!
  • I am 33+2 days and I am almost completely ready! We have had half her nursery set up for months like the crib, changing table, storage shelfs, dresser and armoire. We have bought a ton of stuff along the way just because I couldn't wait! Lol
Had our baby shower last week and got a ton of clothes, swing, pack n play, bumbo, little neccessities, play mat and excersaucer...stuff she won't use for months! My mother is so excited to have a granddaughter so she has stocked up on things since I told her I was pregnant! Ha
So we finished washing all her clothes and organizing the nursery a couple days ago! I am soooo ready for her to arrive being a ftm is so exciting!
  • 33 weeks 3 days here and 99% ready! Just need to put the car seat in the car. Everything is washed, sterilized, put up, decorated, you name it it's done. I can't wait!

I would say 95% there.  We just need to:
    1) Install Car seats
    2) take lactation classes
    3) get wall art on the nursery walls
    4) Pack hospital bags
    5) Create hospital call list
    6) maybe buy more wipes
    7) move bassinet into our room (I want hubby to do that while I am at the hospital)
  • Julz81Julz81 member

I would say we are about 80% ready, we have everything we would absolutely need if he came now.  Just have to get the extras now that we want and more diapers.

  • I'm due July 28.
I have to put the car seat in the car, get my stroller (its pre ordered, so they wont send it until july) and put up the decals in nursery. Cloth diapering and already made a stash of about 50 diapers. Washed all the clothes and have everything ready to go. But I still don't feel ready... hah
