As with most mothers that opt to breastfeed, I'm having a lot of pain and sore nipples. I've tried gel pads, ice packs and lanolin. Each have their good qualities, I'm just curious what you all are using, and what has been working best for you.
Expressing breastmilk and rubbing it into the nipples before & after feedings works wonders for healing! Also, breast shells (not shields) keep clothing from rubbing. Also air exposure is great. This in combination with pumping helped heal my nipple with my second child. She took a pretty decent sized chunk out of it.
Thank you. Looks like there are two different types of shells (TheraShells and SoftShells). I can't tell the difference. Is one better than the other?
I believe they are the same. I think the difference is the TheraShells comes with a fitting that helps flat/inverted nipples. Not that I needed it, but I got the TheraShells and just use the regular fitting.
Does anyone have a baby that startles while nursing? My little girl will startle out of nowhere (no noises that I can hear and I don't move her or touch her in a startling way???) and she kick those legs and arms out and bears down on me like the jaws of life! It hurts some kind of fierce! What gives?
