Gassy baby

My baby has a lot of gas. It doesn't seem to bother him and his stomach doesn't seem to be troubling him as he's not crying or fussy. He just toots...a lot! I asked the peds but he just said "no problem" and told me nothing about what could be causing it. Does anyone else have a happy, gassy baby? What could be causing his gas? Is it my milk? His little farts smell really milky, but again, he just toots and it's like no big deal to him. He's 6 weeks old.

Don't borrow trouble. If it doesn't bother him don't worry about it.

  • That's probably why he is so happy! He doesn't have any issues getting rid of that gas, which is a good thing!

    I second this!
  • My daughter is a happy but very gassy baby. She doesn't burp during or after feedings no matter how hard I try! Dr said its fine because she passes it eventually. I've let my worry go and know it will pass eventually

You're lucky he is a happy farting baby! Haha!! It's horrible when they can't get rid of the gas and are fussy/crying all the time. Don't worry about all the farting, it's a good thing.

My son farts so much, and they stink! I'm so happy to read that others are little toot machines as well!
    Happy farty babies!
  • My daughter also farts ALL the time!  I usually look at my husband thinking it was him because they are so loud.  Its unbelievable that such a little baby could make such a loud noise.  They smell horrible also!
  • My daughter has the loudest & smelliest farts ever.  People think she's pooping & having a super messy diaper, but its just happy toots.  They don't even phase her.  She'll be sleeping, let one go & then smile in her sleep and settle back and get comfy.  I have been amazed at how stinky this little girl is.  Her brother wasn't like this at all.  He was gassy too, but his never smelled this bad.  Its probably something I'm eating?? Who knows, but she rarely seems in pain from her gas.  When she is I just massage her tummy a little & bicycle her legs to push the gas out.  Then she smiles & is a happy little baby again.
