GTKY: The 5 Minute Wait

Be it an opk or hpt, you're going to have to wait 5 minutes or more for your result.

So what do you do to kill the time?

  • Hm, all of the tests that I use have a 2-3 minute wait period. I cover the stick up (or move it out of view) and usually scroll through Facebook to kill time.

  • I sit and wait and do all things phone: Bump, check email, Facebook, play these two games I'm addicted to...

But sometimes I wander around the house doing mini chores until my timer goes off. Anything to avoid staring at the test! :-)

I turn it upside down and that's about the only time I kill time with fb/ig. I try not to think about the test/TTC at all.

@jennymack79 -- I'm actually kinda jealous!  I could get more things done waiting for a 5-min result!  I wouldn't feel like need to just stay sitting on the toilet.. awkwardly... staring at my phone... or things in my bathroom...  :|

Two minutes somehow go by both quickly and painfully slow at the same time.

I go do mini chores and then sometimes forget about the pee stick until 10 minutes later and have to take another :|

I usually walk out of the bathroom and forget to set a timer and go see way past the time (like an hour later). I've wasted too many tests lol but I did this when I got my bfp too, I set it on the counter and got busy doing something else and remembered and thought "I better go throw that out" and there were two lines. I stared at it forever and then confirmed with a digital (which was easy to wait for!)

I finish up on the toilet and wash my hands, then go about getting some stuff ready for breakfast/lunch until the 5 minutes are up.
  • Honestly, I just stare at it. That's about it.

I'm going to steal this! Seems like a productive way to pass time.

I usually just set a timer on my phone and put away laundry or hop in the shower. It sucks having to dry off my hands to reach out of the shower though. Not safe, very slippery.

With hpt I completely stare, or talk to God in my head, you know, begging to see a second line. Please give me a miracle types.

With opk- I am normally guessing the timing, example- if it's a positive when and I had sex last night, was it good timing.

I am in my own ways, weird right?
  • I just chill on the john, waiting. Usually I pass the time on my phone & continuously glance at it.

  • I've only taken two so far, but I just set a timer and then go do something else in another room. The first time I was a bit nervous, but the second time I was just, "Meh, it's going to be a BFN anyway."
  • I frantically run around the house. At least, I did so for DD. This time around, DD usually keeps me occupied.

  • I'm impressed with all the staring. I can't do that, makes me feel too nervous. I go make the bed or do other small chores. I pretend like it doesn't exist (which doesn't work), and when I glance back at it that it's a big surprise (not fooling anybody).

This is a great idea!  I usually just go back to bed and play a game on my phone.  Guess I need to up my productivity game!
