RANT!!! When a coworker asks you in front of your boss if your preggo!!

Im only 5 weeks pregnant and already huge due to bloating. I know a lot of you are experiencing the same thing. It's so frustrating. So I've been trying my best to wear loose dresses and maxis, or loose pants cause pretty much they are all tight on me now. I haven't told my boss yet since it's super early, and a coworker said he had to ask me something and pointed to his belly! I wanted to flip out! I tried to joke and say "are you crazy? Never ask a girl that. What were u raised in a barn!?" I am totally mortified. Plus on top of already feeling like a fat cow who shouldn't be "showing" yet- I fell even more self conscious. :(

What an asshole!  I'm sorry.  I'm terrified to tell my work so this would really piss me off.

I would never ever ask a woman that!! I had a coworker who I was 99% positive was pregnant and I still played dumb. Ughhhhh
I'm also possibly going to apply for a promotion if the job is posted next year so I was trying to plan a good time to tell him this since he knows I'm interested. Plus I have a great relationship with my boss so it's annoying to have him now possibly guessing when I want to be the one to tell him!

  • What a dick! Why do people think they need to share every thought in their heads?
  • So sorry to hear. Thats so inappropriate.
Hopefully your boss is like most guys and completely oblivious to these things and you get to share on your own timeline.
  • He's a jerk!

    Expecting One Healthy Baby Girl!!!
  • Weirdly this happened yesterday at my work but not to me to a girl in my team someone said (after she said she can't stop eating) are you eating for two ... so inappropriate ., I felt very Angry cod imagine if she was or the woman said it ti me?!
  • He's a jerk and should probably keep his opinions and thoughts to himself (especially since he is a male and that's rude. Plain and simple).

I haven't had anyone directly ask me if I am pregnant, but my job is switching health insurances and so if we want to enroll, now is the open period. I was signing my decline (I have my own plan that I pay for which has the coverage I specifically want for having a baby) and had a female coworker ask me why I find it necessary to have my own coverage, then proceed to ask if there is a condition or reason I feel like I need that type of coverage... Uhhh, because I want it - thanks.
  • I posted about overhearing a co-worker asking some ELSE if I was pregnant and I was fuming. I would have lost it if someone said it my face. OMG so rude....

  • We had a company bbq yesterday and one of the female warehouse workers came up to me and asked me if I was pregnant. Like some of you other moms I'm crazy bloated but been wearing flowy shirts and dresses to work. Obviously I denied and said nope just fat. She was like no Christina your not fat but us ladies know you are pregnant. Hmmm must be some crazy 6 sense they have

The thing about this that bothers me the most is that people can't control themselves.  Even is she 'knows you're pregnant' it doesn't dawn on her that if you were ready to talk about it you would have told her?  Then she puts you in an awkward position where you have to lie.  Just rude on so many levels.

Im sorry this happened in your workplace in front of others. In my life Ive had this question 2. About 10y ago (Im 31 waiting for my first child) my aunt asked me (I was a size 10,but had a tummy- always did) that time I was in shock, I couldnt believe I looked pregnant to someone (as I wasnt), and other time a couple of women congradulated me after I was doing a training, for "finally" getting pregnant (I still wasnt and wasnt even plannin as I did not have a man in my life). I still was a size 10. Then I just joked and said I love my food. So ashamed and hurt, but no matter that I had done 3months of pilates every morning, I still had a tummy. So I know myself how rude it feels when someone is quessing. People should just wait untill the pregnant person wants to talk. But to my embarassment I too have asked a colledge mate if she was pregnant, as she was always very fit with no extras anywhere and after 5y she had let herself go remarkably, I thought she was pregnant. I will never do that again.

I'm totally with you on the bloating!  I not quite as bad as you, but keeping my pants buttoned up all day at work is a real problem for me.

I used to be quite chubby and an older convenience store clerk gave me his congratulations.  My friend has had three children, and people have also given her their congratulations..... 12 months after she gave birth.

I've always told any man that unless you actually see a woman giving birth in front of you, DO NOT make any comments that would suggest that she is pregnant.

    People are idiots!!!
