Confession: I just had to google why a pregnant woman shouldn't take hot baths after reading all these posts. I never would've known or even thought about it.
Does it cook the baby or something?
It heats your body which in turns heats the growing baby. You can cool off quickly by going into air conditioning and even sweating but it takes a lot longer for the growing baby to cool off since they are inside of you.
I kinda wondered about laying in the sun too long also. I wonder if that's naughty thing to do. Time for Google

Skiing. Probably my #1 favorite thing to do/biggest stress reliever in the winter. While I've done it my whole life, I'm not sure my OB will give me the green light (I've seen mixed responses on the WWW), especially if I get a BFP soonish and am farther along.
A small price to pay for a LO, but it stinks nonetheless
My OB said no both times I was in 1st and early 2nd trimester during ski season. My DH isn't a skier so he would not let me. I have had friends ski throughout pregnancy.

I already only drink one cup of coffee a day (2max) and don't drink alcohol very often so won't miss those much. Also when I get sandwiches j usually get them toasted anyway. So for me the hardest thing to give up will definitely be sushi. Oh and my energy level - I'm tired all the time when I'm not pregnant, so I anticipate being a complete zombie when I am! =P~

I'm going to miss YOU GUYS after my BFP! I'm going to miss this board! I'm not entirely convinced I'll even leave, though, especially since I don't know that I'll be able to stand a BMB.
And I'll miss wine. Very much the wine.
@Everycol0r, I'm in MN and I hear cold cuts all the time, but here, there's no confusion that it means deli meat.
I am going to miss sleeping on my stomach. And I really love my energy levels and I hope that there are things I can do to try to minimize the energy loss!!
@everycol0r I say deli meat too. But subway has a "cold cut combo" so I am familiar with the term.
I mean I've heard it I guess, so I knew what it meant, but no one around here ever says cold cuts. I didn't know it was a more northern thing, sorta like "pop".
Yeah I think it is. Here a sprite, dr. pepper, pepsi? It's all coke to us. "What kind of coke do you want? - I think I'd like a dr. pepper!"
Pepsi! Their slogan should be "Is Pepsi okay?" "I'll have a Dr. Pepper."
I will miss alcohol...and hot baths! And honestly those are two of the few things I plan on avoiding when PG other than OTC meds. I already only have 1-2 cups of caffeinated stuff, so maybe cut down to 1. And maybe I will stick to cooked sushi rolls instead of raw, but there is a lot of research and a whole country of people eating sushi when pregnant to show that isn't a serious risk if you eat at a reputable restaurant.
A lot of the things listed there do not have a huge amount of evidence they need to be avoided during pregnancy. Like medium rare steak? I can see that with ground beef because that carries the most risk of E-coli due to the grinding operation, but the risk is almost neglible with most cuts of steak. Same thing with over easy eggs I believe if they are stored properly. Cold cuts too, like PP said are not significantly more risky than fruits and vegetables, and if you are really worried pop them in the microwave.
Clearly I'm a bit of a skeptic as to all the things that are suddenly bad for you when pregnant (and life in general).
So I don't have cats, but I do have ferrets that have litterboxes. It's been "my job" to clean them. I just looked up to see if they carry toxoplasmosis and they do.
DH better get used to shoveling weasel poop!

Also, I'll miss most of the things mentioned here already like sleeping on my stomach, sleeping in general, hot baths, rare to med rare steak and cheap sushi (I think I'll still get the expensive stuff sometimes though). I plan on still drinking Coke Zero but cutting down since I have an unhealthy relationship with it.
I'm from NY and it's always been cold cuts for me!! I know I'll miss wine and sushi. If my finger swells up, I'll miss wearing my wedding and engagement ring! I'm sure there is more I'm not sure of. I tell you this though- I WON'T miss OPK's, BFN's, and temping!! Lol \:D/

I doubt it, since rats are rodents and ferrets are actually more closely related to cats. The risk of toxoplasmosis is really low with them compared to cats but shh... don't tell DH that.

I've already made an effort over time to cut out coffee/ caffeine. I don't drink more than a cup a day, and sometimes none at all. I don't really do hot tubs, and I spend literally zero time laying out in the sun (I'm a freckly ginger, and therefore, my practically see-through skin burns within ten minutes). And it turns out I'm kind of indifferent about lunch meat/ deli meat/ cold cuts/ whatever people call it. I love sushi/ sashimi, but I can handle only eating cooked seafood sushi for nine months.
The only things that pop to mind that I'm gonna miss are certain cheeses (blue cheese olives!), rare steak (only eaten once in a blue moon, but greatly enjoyed), and the occasional after-work cocktail. I saw a man masturbating at my job today, so it was definitely a day for a bloody mary. Oh and I'm also gonna miss jumping on the trampoline with my 5 & 7 year old nieces. Apparently that's a no-no too.
I've noticed on this thread that a lot of people say they're going to miss things that other posters say are completely ok. I figure some of the stuff I plan on avoiding isn't actually as big a deal as we think, but my logic is why risk it? It's only nine months, and it's not like I'm going to look back at that time and say, "Man, I wish I ate more lunch meat."
So I've been reading Expecting Better and now think a number of these restrictions just don't make sense, especially lunch meat (the listeria outbreak that started this was specifically deli turkey and was something like 10+ years ago I think) and sushi. Other outbreaks have been ice cream (as mentioned) and carrots to name a few. It can pop up anywhere.
And, sorry ladies, but if you have indoor cats that aren't brand new kittens, the litter box is fine from what I've read. The cat gets infected by eating other animals, then secretes stuff in feces for a few weeks or so. After that, my understanding from what I read is you can no longer be infected. The greater toxoplasmosis risk is gardening (because outdoor cats poop).

I am never telling DH this ^^. I guess I should put that over in the secrets thread... If he wants to be uninformed, who I am to stop him?
