Aversions Anyone?

Let's hear them ladies - what aversions do you have to food, smells, etc.? Other than hating the smell of nearly everything and not being able to eat grilled chicken, I absolutely cannot look at sandwiches or burgers with guacamole on them. Now, I like guac on its own, but for some reason seeing a commercial with it on a sandwich triggers my gag reflex. It's so weird and my husband thinks I'm overreacting.

Do you have any aversions?

We're having twins

Our angel baby boy is looking over his twin sister - due November 21

  • I can't even look at peanut butter. Unless it's on a pb&j. Apparently in that form it's acceptable! Haha so strange!
  • Loading the player...
  • Mustard. Seeing it, smelling it, thinking about it, all make me nauseous. I never was a big mustard fan to begin with, but it never made me sick either.

The taste and smell of coffee for both pregnancies.Especially when my husband keeps the pot on all morning and it just burns...

Brussel sprouts, the sight of them makes me uncontrollably gag. Although I'm really having a tough time with a lot of food that I have to prepare.

Coffee for me as well and raw chicken makes me queasy. If I never saw it raw or cooked it myself I'm fine though.

Coffee and spinach. I loved both before but now I just can't stomach them. :(

The only thing I've found that I did enjoy before and can't seem to stomach now is breakfast burritos...
ETA: The buttercream-scented body wash I had been using is cloyingly sweet to me now, so I had to get a different kind.
  • I'm having the same issue with grilled chicken as well! I also can't eat salads which has been terrible because pre-pregnancy I ate grilled chicken and a salad almost every day. I've been trying to make smoothies instead since I'm missing out on my salads.
  • BBQ! So weird, both my pregnancies...just the smell of the meat cooking and the smell of a BBQ going makes me nauseas. Also, that commercial for the new Carls Jr. burger with all the jalapenos and crap on it....I can't stomach that commercial.
  • Chipotle! It's tragic.
  • Eggs and chicken in any form!

I'm also having a salad issue. It looks good, I think I can eat it, and then bam- shouldn't have eaten those three bites.

Chinese food and spaghetti The thought of it, smell of it, and taste of it... blech. Maybe because I puked them both.
I also can't stand when my coworkers bring breakfast into the office. They're fans of bringing hard boiled eggs and it smells like straight butt.

What's up with chicken?  Me too!  I remember not really being able to eat/smell red meat with my first, but this time around it's chicken too.  It's such a mild flavor, I'm surprised it is bothering so many people.  I wish I could say I am replacing it with more veggies (trying), but I just seem to be eating my weight in grilled cheese and tomato soup (it's 91 where I am btw, still scarfing down the soup).
Oh, and kwaldy, the death glare I would be sending to those boiled egg eaters...
  • Mayo but only in the jar with a twist off lid. If it's in a squeeze bottle that's fine. Weird I know.
  • MIL... oh wait... you mean food.  Strangely I am having aversions to sweets.  I am such a sweets fanatic, but the only thing I can stomach is ice cream.  Cake, chocolate, brownies and cookies are out the window for me, but usually a staple in my diet.  I was having aversions to veggies and red meat for the first 12 weeks, but I'm making the turn and can deal with them now.
  • I used to love avocados, would put them on everything (salads, sandwiches). Now I can't even look at them, ugh!

    That makes me sad :(
  • I used to absolutely love the chicken and cheese crispitos you can get at gas stations (weird I know). Like would have them for a meal at least once a week. We live in the middle of no where and the only things close to us are a gas station and a family dollar so it was a good thing I liked them when we were short on food.

Hubby got one the other day and I made him hold it out the truck window. Couldn't even stand the smell.
  • Mustard, ketchup, pickles, trail mix of any kind, mayo.

I used to love those gas station taquitos until I got a few hard bits in one.  Now I can't stomach them.

My husband loves the spicy chicken gas station sandwiches, and those seriously smell awful!  I didn't like the smell pre-pregnancy, but now it's about a bajillion times worse.

One really sad aversion for me is ice cream! Mostly anything with sugar or food I have to cook haha.
  • I can't do any hot food. Cold only!
  • I went through a phase of no bacon in the first tri. It didn't turn my stomach, but I just didn't want it. Guess baby is already concerned about my cholesterol!

Anything..most smells and thoughts and sight of food makes my stomach churn..I live a mile away for the Indianapolis Motor Speedway and today was carb day and a house that I work at is close to the track and smelling all that food made me So nauseous I literally pulled over into a gas station parking lot and puke..thank goodness I hadn't taken the trash can out of my car yet..it was awful..
  • Large pieces of meat... Like the thought of a whole chicken breast is disgusting. Same with steaks and hamburgers. Like actual hamburger patties and a large steak. I can eat chicken and steak if it's chopped up on a salad or in fajitas. Hamburger meat is fine as long as it's ground and in spaghetti or something. But slabs of meat.... No thank you. :-&

Salad (was really bad for awhile), peanut butter which I normally love, hamburgers for a while but luckily it's passed! Oh and there's something about the sight of cooked veggies- makes me want to gag!
  • Coffee..even the smell of it brewing or being ground makes me nauseous....which is something I thought I'd never ever say!! (I live in WA state...coffee mecca haha). I also can't eat eggs at all. Even thinking about it makes me kinda sick.
  • Not food but before i found out i was pregnant we bought a new car and the smell of it killed me. I drove with the windows down for two months.

Pizza and avocados make me so sick just thinking about them! They were two of my favourite foods before becoming pregnant
  • Red sauce (spaghetti sauce or like marinara sauce). The smell of ground beef cooking..... Barf! But a big juicy steak on the bbq is totally fine! Weirdo body.
