Suggestions needed...

Help! When we fly I usually carry my now 15 month old in an ergo. What size belly has anyone else still carried a child in an ergo (on the front). I'm concerned I should bring a stroller, but from previous experience it's more hassle than worth). I will be 16 weeks pregnant when we leave and 19ish weeks when we come back. Baby will be 16-17 months. TIA

Edit*. He hates to be carried on the back so that is not an option.

Re: Suggestions needed...

  • My son is turning 1 year on May 30th and we're flying to Florida (2 1/2 hour flight) on the 31st.
I never carried my son in a carrier, but now that you mention it I never wven thought to bring the stroller. Holy crap! What am I going to let him run around the airport?!!! I better read up on flying with a baby quick!
Sorry I couldn't help answer your question.

If you bring a stroller make sure it's not a good one. Last time I took my good one with my twins (now 4.5) the airline broke it and refused to fix or replace it.

Edit* wheel was literally snapped off! It was useless!
  • Sorry I forgot to attach the pic to my original post

Thanks I'll definitely look into these
  • I'm traveling with my 15mo son this weekend and am taking him to the dr for his 15 mo check-up on Friday before we leave. I was going to ask his dr (she's also my dr) that same question! I'll let you know what I find out.
  • Could you try a wrap/sling that lets you do a hip hold? That said I am 18 wks and carry my 30 lb 2 yr old in my Moby occasionally. It still works. I loosened some of the straps to make room for them both. So much easier than carrying him in my arms when he is done walking.
  • @ashleywuli they have a stroller down there for us to use, but we do have to check the car seat.
  • You can check the stroller at the gate, then it is right there when you get off the plane at your destination. Bring a simple umbrella stroller and if it is damaged, oh well.
Warning No formatter is installed for the format bbhtml
  • I second the bringing the unbrella stroller, also not sure how you feel about the toddler harness/ backpack but it was really nice when we flew with my 19month old. She still had freedom to walk but within reach of me or DH. We got ours on Amazon for like $15. I felt it kept her way safer as we traveled through the airports and had layovers.
  • I'm probably going to just buy a cheap stroller like an umbrella. I just can't risk them ruining another good stroller. Last time my city select strollers wheel was literally snapped off by them throwing it around under the plane:( Thanks for the advice!!
