Gallbladder issues?

has anyone ever had gallbladder issues? At first I was thinking baby was being picky but I'm beginning to think this is much more. Tmi but I've had diarrhea for weeks now. Now I have piercing/stabbing pains in my stomach (where I believe things would be now they're all pushed around) depending what I eat. Heaven forbid I eat anything with any sort of grease in it or any heavy meals. I was reading online these could be symptoms of gallbladder issues. Anyone have any words of wisdom?

Re: Gallbladder issues?

  • I had my gallbladder removed last year , and dh just had his removed last month. From both experiences yours does sound simular. I would ask your GP to start looking into it (get the ball rolling). Some sceneries (like mine), move very fast.

With me, I just didn't feel right (I already was on a low fat low grease diet for other reasons). And one night I had sharp pains going through my chest, and then promptly went to the hospital. Was diagnosed within a week with gallstones (multiple layered kind). And within another week was supposed to schedule the surgery, and didn't even make it to then. And had emergency surgery to have it removed, because even morphine wasn't touching the pain. =/

My dh had a much less intense experiance. Was slightly uncomfortable, and had 1 semi- unpleasant night with this, went to the GP, and was again diagnosed with gallstones. Lasted a month and a half with a low fat low grease diet, with minimal problems. And also ad it to his seduced surgery date.

Mine flared up when I was 30 weeks pregnant with my son. I spent a night in the hospital. Then about a month after he was born I had another flare up and was diagnosed with gallstones and had my gallbladder removed. It was sharp intense pain from my back all the way around my stomach.

I had to go to labor and delivery this weekend and spent two days there because of a severe right sided pain. Turns out they think it was actually an ovarian cyst on my right ovary that ruptured- had a lot of fluid in my pelvis and really high WBC count. They did however check my gallbladder on an ultrasound, and apparently I have gallstones also. They said that most likely wasn't the case for the pain because the pain was much lower (right where ovary is) but that I would probably have to get my gallbladder removed after the baby. They said it can definitely cause pain and make you very uncomfortable, but that they would not do the surgery until after the pregnancy. Sorry that's not much help but you're not alone! I'm just trying to take it super easy. Hope you can hang in there!
  • I had mine removed a few years back. It's extremely uncomfortable and difficult to deal with. Have you been having fevers? That when I gets to the point where it may burst. I suggest getting it checked out

I had mine out four years ago and had immediate relief. I didn't have gallstones but when they did the gallbladder functioning test, mine was only functioning at 8% which is really bad. I'm much happier without it!
  • I had a fever Saturday and Sunday but think it's unrelated. No fever anymore. I'll have to call doctor though. I've had too many weird random issues.
  • Drink a table spoon of apple cider vinegar!! It helps a great deal

How is it not having a gallbladder?

My husband is getting his removed in a few weeks and at his appointment the nurse told him he will probably get fat because his food won't digest. Now he's freaking out trying to lose weight and only eating salads until his surgery. Lucky for the nurse that I wasn't there. She has him so upset and freaking out.
  • I had to have mine removed about 3 months after my son was born! It was intense pain and it would come at the most unexpected times! My doctor promoted me to have an ultrasound done. Turned out to be gallstones!
Had it removed and I have t had any problems since!

An u/s first detected my gallstones when I was pregnant with my first but since my attacks were rare, I sucked it up and lived with them for years and another pregnancy. Gradually, my attacks became more frequent and more painful until finally last year, after suffering with them for about 8 years, I had a massive attack, throwing up, fever, shooting pain, the works, and had surgery. My advice...don't be stubborn (or stupid, yes, I was very stupid) like me. The pain will get worse so get them out! Good luck!

My first pregnancy wreaked havoc on my gallbladder (although i just always chalked it up to severe indigestion until the pain sent me to the ER months later) and I had it removed via emergency surgery. I INSTANTLY felt better! I had no idea just how crappy I was feeling before until after it was removed. And to answer the PP, I digest my food just fine and actually lost weight for a full year after surgery. I'd do it all over again!

I had no stones, but had a 0% on my functioning test. It just decided to up and quit one day. I had pain, stomach issues, just like you are describing. I also had some pain move around to my back as well, not far below my right shoulder blade. I agree that I didn't know how bad I felt until I had it taken out. Now that it's gone, I just have to watch how much fried and greasy stuff I eat, which I'm trying to avoid anyway because of the pregnancy. I can eat just about whatever I want though. Mine was taken out almost 4 years ago. Good luck!

I agree with previous posters. I felt instantly better. The only thing I don't process well post-gallbladder surgery is onions. My weight hasn't been an issue due to the lack of a gallbladder so I think that was poor advice given to your husband.

Trust me, if someone is have gallbladder issues, you will feel 1000% better once it is gone. Before I had it out, everything I ate made me sick.
