We have learned that DHS is requiring our daycare (a center that we really like) to stop swaddling the infants. This is extremely frustrating for me...my LO calms instantly when she's swaddled and takes great naps in her sleep sack too. If she's not swaddled she'll only sleep for long periods of time snuggled in someone's arms, 10 min after you put her down she wakes up & can't get back to sleep. She's also sleeping for about 5-6 hours straight at night, because - I think - she's swaddled. My son was the same way. It not only benefits the child but saves parents & care givers stress as well. I wish the teachers in my DD room at daycare good luck dealing with 8 infants who are tired but can't sleep because 'those who know best' say they can't swaddle. The hospitals send parents home with a new swaddle sleep sack for crying out loud!! So, do I stop doing it at home to help her adjust to daycare during the day? Or do I keep swaddling at home so she gets a decent sleep/nap somewhere??
Re: Swaddle restrictions...mini rant
If it were me, I think I would still put her in her sleep sack at night for that reason, but I bet whatever your mama instincts are leading you to will be good!
