so I know stretch marks aren't something you can avoid and it's just something that naturally happens ,which I'm ok with but if theirs a way to make them "less noticeable" or fade away somewhat over time I'm all for it , and I know theirs lots of things you can buy from cheap to expensive that claim to make stretch marks "go away" but which do you think actually helps, I'm stuck between 2 drugstore products..

Really i haven't had any problems with them during my pregnancyso far, but I have a few from a couple years ago before I lost a lot of weight and the best thing I've used is a constant daily application of coconut oil or any natural oil really, almond and avacado work great too. They help a lot when it comes to the elasticity of your skin and also with the health, I have noticed they're fading away and hard to see now and I haven't gotten any new ones
  • I use coca butter they make some specifically for stretch marks :)
  • Going to try Mederma
  • I felt like Mederma didn't do anything for me.. the stretch marks fade in color over time, but turn BRIGHT red if I'm hot.. like hot shower, hot tub, etc.

  • Honestly they fade on their own over time. I only got one on my left boob but it was pretty pronounced for awhile. But DS is almost 3 now and the marks are very very light, almost unnoticeable. Even with this new pregnancy they didn't darken again. It's a waste of money to try to do anything about them in my opinion.
  • I rub burts bees belly butter on 2x/day and have yet to get stretch marks during either pregnancy. I start when I find out I am pregnant and continue the entire pregnancy.

  • Bio oil is the shiz, ours kind of extensive though and does require frequent use so I would supplement with coconut oil as well

That's why I'm trying to purchase something cheap and not crazy expensive like 30 plus dollars , and honestly I do believe it's in your genes but then I believe that it's not because I know people who their whole family has crazy stretch marks naturally or because of pregnancy and some people don't get it at all , like a cousin in law , her mom and dad both have them really bad and she recently had a baby and not a single stretch mark anywhere besides her butt from a long time ago which I'm sure mostly all of us have .
  • I'm creeping from Sept but if you use bio oil test an area first. I just started putting it every where last pregnancy and broke out in hives for weeks. Sooo awful.
  • I'm using coconut oil and so far, so good! I got a big tub for like $12 and not even halfway through. I just use it like lotion everywhere. I don't know what my future holds for stretch marks but at least I know I'm putting something good on my body and my skin feels great!
  • I have been using an inexpensive vitamin E cream. It comes in a two pack (small white tubs). I have gotten it at Walmart. It is lightweight and not greasy. Not sure if it actually helps with stretch marks, I'm fortunate that they don't tend to run in my family (hoping I didn't just jinx myself later in this pregnancy).

I personally think mederma is awful. It's expensive and made me break out in a rash. I had to get a prescription cream for the rash and my dermatologist said it does that for a lot of people. She doesn't recommend it.
  • none of it helps.

This is exactly what my midwife says!
  • Truly none of it will work. Just get some vitamin E and put it in your normal lotion. It can help the skin heal but literally nothing is going to get rid of them or prevent them. Honestly they aren't even a big deal. Pre pregnancy I was 5'8" and 125 and was terrified to "lose" my body or whatever. After I had my baby I really couldn't give a shit less about them.
  • No I know they aren't avoidable and never said they were I was just looking for a product to help them be less noticeable or help them slightly fade because I know you can't prevent them or make them disappear .
