Maternity panties?

anyone wearing maternity specific panties? Mine are getting super uncomfortable I think because their hitting too high and awkwardly on the bump but when I push them down under the bump then it feels uncomfortable and tight or something. Not sure if I should just buy some bigger panties or buy maternity underwear. What are you ladies doing?

Re: Maternity panties?

  • I tried the panties they sell at Motherhood Maternity and they were horrible!! I've had better luck buying my normal brand, same size just in a "low cut" style. My current favorite:

Haven't had any trouble with pressure or bunching since they ride well below the bump.

I agree with the prior poster said... I use hipsters. They hit lower just be careful that some brands stiff cover your booty when you bend over. Haha

    Good luck!
  • I love the foldover ones from Motherhood. I have tons of hiphuggers from VS and they hurt my lower tummy upper pelvis, whatever you want to call it.
  • The Victoria's Secret no show thongs are made of the absolute most comfortable stretchy material. They feel like heaven and they don't have any seams!

  • I second the Victoria Secret no show panties. I basically just go a find any undies they sell that have a stretchy lace waistband instead of elastic and it works great. I did that for my last pregnancy and will be doing it again. :)

Motherhood Maternity! Arg. I bought a nursing bra from them and it's the worst.

  • I just bought my same VS panties in one size up and they are super comfy and the cut I love.
  • I never had to change sizes or anything with my last pregnancy or this one so far. I wear VS low rise or whatever they're called! They are perfectly comfortable. I think it depends on where they fall in your lower stomach.

I second this! I love these. I have several of the lace thong option the other ladies mentioned as well but I'm just not feeling the thongs anymore so these cotton ones with the lace waist are more comfortable to me.

I buy a bigger size in the ones I like from target. Didn't want to ruin my vs. They have a lace waist and are low cut. Word of advice your panties may still" fit" but u will end up with stretched out panties by the end unless you are a tooth pick. I'm am not overweight in any way, but I gained the normal amount during my last pregnancy for my size and have a bunch very stretched out underwear as a result of not switching.
  • I have a bunch of the fold-over ones from motherhood left over from when I was pregnant with DS. VS cheeky hipsters are my go-to when I'm not pregnant, but they don't stay in place now.

Have a funny to share about underwear.  I was sitting at my desk yesterday and finally thought I felt the baby move so I sat really still and started freaking out!  It was just my underwear band rolling down my belly!  I felt like an idiot!!!   :))

Oh mannnn. I feel bad laughing at this because I remember how it feels to be DYING to feel baby move....but I'm lol-ing so hard b/c that sounds like something that would happen to me, haha! I hope you feel your baby move soon!

I can still wear all my same undies; nothing has expanded (yet) aside from my belly and my boobs a small bit. But I've always gotten the low rise undies so maybe that's why I haven't had any problems. :)

I am thinking I need some without seams. At night while sleeping on my side the seams bother my hips.
  • I bought some of these last year to wear in the summertime under dresses, and right now they are the only panties that are comfortable for me. They probably won't work when you're super big, but for now they hit at just the right spot. https://www.target.com/p/women-s-seamless-boyshort-2-pack-gilligan-o-malley/-/A-10495094#prodSlot=medium_1_2&term=seamless+boy+short

I also read that walmart has great maternity thongs. I hate wearing anything but thongs under pants, so I'll probably get some soon.
  • Just a warning for the thong lovers: if you get hemorrhoids, you may want some full-butt undies on hand.

I used to wear thongs all the time before I was pregnant with DS, but those awful pregnancy hemorrhoids changed that!

  • I bought some of the Jessica Simpson panties at Motherhood and they are super comfortable
  • Walmart has a brand of panties called"Best Fitting Panties." The seamless style is great for under dresses. I bought them 2 sizes up and they are super comfy!

@numbr2 @BrooklynBroussard same here! I was pregnant this time last year and wore my normal underwear throughout my pregnancy (I wear VS) and they never stretched out. I was very thin (not a toothpick) and gained 50 lbs just not in my butt and hips. I see what others are saying and it's a good tip to go up a size. It really depends on where you gain while pregnant, but it may be too late when you realize it. Lol

This a million times over. I had to throw out a bunch that stretched out.
The lace band ones are better than the cotton topped ones in retaining shape so some of the lace were salvageable.
Post partum I just did the cheapest cotton full backed ones I could find since I knew they'd get ruined. Wearing full backed panties was probably the worst part of recovery for me (smallest fiddle playing saddest song. Hahaha)
  • I personally LOVE the one at motherhood!!! I have never found a comfier fit in my whole life... I usually wear VS before pregnancy, but they are tight now. Idk if I will ever quit wearing motherhood's undies :)
  • I didn't even know maternity panties existed. I'm still wearing my normal undies from Victorias secret. The stretchy no-seam undies are the best! I buy underwear about once a month so having saggy pairs shouldn't be an issue. I haven't gotten bigger anywhere but my tummy and boobs.
  • My underwear actually started punching my v-j. I don't know why but the seams were cutting into my inner thigh and would shift and pinch.

I bought some cute boy cut shorts. They seem to help me avoid the weird pinching.
