June 2015 Moms

Anyone know if there baby has dropped?

I'm 37 weeks and getting anxious and excited. I have heard with your first sometimes baby will drop a few weeks before they actually come...
I was just curious if anyone out there knows if there baby has dropped already and what are some of the symptoms?
My next OB appt is next Tuesday and I will of course talk to her but in the meantime I was curious what y'all were experiencing.
I am due June 10th. Definitely having braxton-hicks contractions and constantly going to the restroom...but besides that no other early labor signs.
Just looking to connect with other expectant moms playing the waiting game...

I was told yesterday by a friend that it looks like I dropped. I have more vagina pain and I am going to the bathroom slightly more often...

Baby dropped at 31/32 weeks for me! At least, that's what I assumed happened. I had taken a side bump picture the day before, and in the middle of the night I felt a 'pop' sensation and like baby shifted down, I was terrified initially assuming my water had broken but fortunately it didn't. I took another side bump picture the follow day in the same shirt to compare, and there was quite a difference in where the LO was sitting.

There is a search feature on this site if you want to give that a shot to find out more about what's been happening for others mums. Or as PP mentioned, check out the daily symptoms thread that is posted each morning!

Good luck at your apt on Tuesday!
  • Omg, yes. I am 34/5 days and she dropped a few days ago. I feel like she will just drop out any second when I walk. I have the sensation to pee a lot but can't. I'm pretty achy down south too.

Like a PP mentioned, I felt a "pop" while peeing and thought my water broke at 34w+6d. There wasn't and blood or worsening contractions after that so I assumed she dropped. I took a picture of my bump the next day and noticed how low my belly was. I've been carrying very high with this little girl and now my belly is much lower. Also, I have been peeing a lot more, thinking my bladder is super full and only getting a tiny bit out. Went to the Dr yesterday for my weekly check-up and she is really far head down and said the pop was most likely her dropping. I'm due June 20, so getting closer! Yay for all of us and our LO'S coming soon! =) I feel like I can't wait any longer!
  • Mine has at 36w 3d. I took my weekly bump picture on Friday and another on Monday just to compare and you can definitely see that the LO has dropped. I can also breathe easier and my DH stated that the belly isn't crowding his hand while grabbing my boobs. :\">

My LO dropped a week ago. I could tell because of how much easier it was to breath!! My hips are starting to get super loose and I feel a lot more pressure down there. Lots more BH contractions too! My first two had to be evicted, so I'm not getting my hopes up, but I would REALLY like to see what labor is like without induction. I heard contractions aren't quite as bad? Due June 10th, but she'll be here June 3rd if she hasn't arrived yet ;).

  • I feel like mine has. But I also never had breathing problems and l/o was never messing with my ribs, except for a few times. I just feel more pressure near my hips and back than I ever did. My ob commented on it the other day.
  • There was a day when I had a lot of pressure and contractions, I think he dropped that day! There was definitely more space between the bump and my boobs after that. Now I can feel extra low movement and occasional lightning crotch which is awful!

Wait, you were induced for your first two children and really want to go into labor naturally but you're going to be induced again if you don't deliver this baby a week early? What am I missing?
  • With my first I never dropped. Like even after 18 hours of labor. So therefore I didn't dilate which resulted in my c section. This time I am carrying her much lower anyway.
  • I'm pretty sure I've dropped (at 34 1\2 weeks) as evidenced by the pelvic pain and groin pain that has become so bad it's waking me up in the middle of the night. This can be one of the best signs that LO is making his way down into the pelvis. It hurts like a muv, but I've been carrying him low this whole time, so bladder pressure and lightning crotch have been an everyday thing for me for awhile now. I've also experienced BHs a few times a week since week 25 or so, so I'm sure they've been doing the work over time to get LO'S head lowered.

I'm 36 weeks on Thursday and I'm pretty sure I haven't dropped which is freaking me out. I plan to ask about it at my doctors appointment on Thursday...
  • I am 35+4 today and while my Hubby and a friend both mentioned they think I have dropped, I can't really tell, even though I have been carrying high the whole time. I just feel large! I have my 36 week apt on Friday and I was planning on asking my Dr then.

  • 38 weeks today and have not. Mine has been head down low for months and I have been feeling those effects. But his tush must be high up bc my bump is pretty high. Doctor confirmed he has not dropped yet.
  • Thanks ladies. All this helped, I am definitely carrying this little girl low so it's hard to tell by looking in the mirror. I will see what the Doc says next week. Good luck to you all!
  • People have been telling me I've dropped, but I didn't really believe it...my doctor said a couple weeks or so ago that he could still change positions a lot before birth. I'm 35 weeks now and have gained a ton of weight mostly in my bump. The thing I've noticed in the past couple days that's new is that it feels like my bump is brushing against the tops of my legs especially when I sit down, making it even more uncomfortable to do anything. Has anyone else felt this? Like my belly is actually hanging down so low it bumps against my legs. Is this something that happens when baby drops, or am I just gaining too much weight, or something else?

Yes this is happening to me too! I think my bump has just gotten bigger.
  • I just now got out of the shower and did the side view with no clothes in the way (most of the time I don't bother to look). At 36 weeks I have not dropped. Still boobs immediately into basketball belly that pretty much ends above hips.

@heidiiwa the other day my bump managed to use my smartphone which was resting on my upper thigh. But its definitely not low... I think its just gotten bigger

I don't think I've dropped either .... Although my breathing has been better for a few weeks and pelvic pain arrived. My doc put it thusly: "say you are trying to get from boston to Miami. Right now you are in New York. So yes, you are more south, but a ways to go". (Love my doc).

And DH pointed out that now my boobs look like they are "sitting on a shelf". (How eloquent!)

I like your doctor's analogy! Just compared this week's bump pic to last week's and I think mine's around New York area, too :)
