Babies on the Brain

Intro

Hi!  I've been lurking around a bit lately and thought I'd introduce myself.  I mostly hang out on the money matters board on TN, and see some familiar faces here :)

H and I are planning on TTC beginning in early-2016.  He's 36, I'm 30, and this will be our first and potentially only.  I'm excited to TTC, but also a bit nervous about the life change it will bring for us.  In addition to my 9-5, I have a part time job as a scuba diving instructor, and leaving it for a year+ will hard in many ways.  I know it will be worth it though, and the ocean will still be there when I'm ready to get back to it.  I'm also a bit nervous because my job has only 4 employees, so I won't be covered by FMLA.  I'm pretty confident they'll hold my position for me for at least a 6 week leave, but it's still nerve-wracking.

With the next few months, we're focused on enjoying the summer, building up our emergency savings, and maybe taking one last big pre-baby trip once the savings is in place.  We'll probably look at destinations that would still be fun for me pregnant, just in case (knowing it can take a year, of course), since we probably wouldn't have everything together for the trip until next spring.  Anyway, look forward to chiming in around here!

Re: Intro

  • Welcome! There's not much action on this board, and I recommend lurking on Trying To Get Pregnant board. There is a lot of useful information for the TTC process, including temping snd charting. My husband and I will begin TTc in August, amd I have started temping this month to get the hang of it and to learn more about my cycles. Good luck on your TTC journey and enjoy your summer! :)

  • As far as vacations go, have you been on a cruise before? Since you said you like diving, that seems like an easy place to get a couple fun diving destinations in at once. Or what about Australia?

I agree with the PP, the TTGP board is a lot more active.

I was actually very lucky to study abroad in Australia, which is where I learned to dive! We did try a cruise once too, and I liked it but H got very stir crazy at sea. We actually have a policy of alternating diving and non diving vacations, and our next will be nondiving. Our first choice location is Amsterdam if we can save enough, which is someplace I could easily enjoy pregnant if it happens quickly! (Not in it for the "coffee shops!")

Thanks for the tip on TTGP! I lurk there a bit and will intro when we are closer to starting.
