Result of TTC: Acne (gross warning?)

At least for me, acne is a side-effect of TTC because I had to go off of the meds that controlled it. I was blessed with adult acne; never really had trouble as a teenager. I used birth control and Spironolactone (prescribed) to manage my acne prior to TTC but went off of both in November.

So anyways, I think it's a combination of the warmer weather, running more, and hormones that's causing me to have some serious back acne. I shower right after running and don't use conditioner because it seems to make it worse. I've tried tea tree oil and over the counter treatments. What else can I do? It's seriously cramping my summer style and making me pretty self-conscious.

Wouldn't it be nice if doing adult things (making a baby) meant your body stopped acting like it belonged to a hormonal teenager? Ugh.

Have you tried some of the acne body washes? I have one by phisoderm.

It's been years since I've tried any of them, so I could check that out. I just use bar soap.

Most bar soaps can be extremely drying which could be exacerbating the issue. I would get a shower gel specifically for body acne and see if that helps. Good luck!

@kns1988 we're in the same boat (unfortunately). I got off BC in April and ever since my backne (hate that term, but it is what it is) has been rearing its ugly head. I'm using some acne body washes (clearasil), but haven't found one that works yet. Best of luck to you, and I'll be back here to lurk to see if anyone else has found a magical cure.

More acne ache here! I've had bad acne as a teenager. It was gone when I had my IUD, but since it was removed, it's rearing it's gross head again. And the backne itches so bad!

My skin is a mess!

I had some skin problems until around 2004, when I went on Yaz, which cleared it up. Going off Yaz 6 years ago didn't bring it back. But the stress and fertility meds have left it a mess!

I'm hoping that if I have the face of a teenager, maybe my ovaries will follow suit.

My face has gotten a lot worse since I stopped taking BCP (Junel). It comes in waves, though. I'll have like 2 weeks of clean skin, then 5 days of AWFUL breakouts. I switch off between various face washes / scrubs / charcoal cleaners... you name it. I even apply small amounts of benzoyl peroxide when I feel a pimple coming on -- doesn't even help that much. I try to drink tons of water and DH and I eat pretty healthy, so I just don't know what to do either! Bahhhh! Hate.

I've been having issues with it on my upper arms and shoulders more than anything. My face luckily has escaped any new breakouts since stopping my BC.

Also, this may sound "granola", but have you tried juicing or making smoothies? dark leafy greens are great for skin and may help w/getting toxins out of your system... just stay away from juicing fruits w/a lot of sugar.

I think it's the heat and the weather changes, because my face has been breaking out like crazy. I haven't been on BCP in 3 years, so this is all me, myself, and I. It sucks.

For body acne, I would dry-brush before showering every day.

Sorry I was lurking. This pregnancy has me breaking out all over my back, but I've had luck with philosophy's cleansers and I use them on a Vic washcloth. The texture is amazingly exfoliating.
