I've been wondering if I have this. Checking with the dr at my appointment next week. For now, just trying to take it easy and avoid movements that hurt.
Would you ladies mind giving me the skinny on the symptoms you had associated with SPD? I have a high pain tolerance so never go to my doc but I've been in so much pain the past wk and 1/2 and I'm not sure if I've just been getting terrible RL pain or something more related to SPD. I've had RL pain since week 6 and this feels so much different but I have really terrible hips and sacrum so I guess it's possible that it's just them reacting. Anyways, it would be really helpful to hear how you were feeling leading up to talking to your doctors about it and receiving the diagnosis.
A grinding or clicking sensation in your pubic area.
Pain down the inside of your thighs or between your legs. It can be made worse by parting your legs, walking, going up or down stairs or moving around in bed.
Worse pain at night. SPD can prevent you from sleeping well. Getting up to go to the toilet in the middle of the night can be especially painful.
I guess what I should have asked is this: when did you guys know you had an issue going on? Like I said, I don't ever go to the doctors, I was raised as a "grin and bear it" kind of person so it's really hard to determine what's just pain and what's something going on. When did you get/ what triggered that realization that you needed to get it checked out?
What made me go get checked out for SPD: When i was laying in my bed one night and could not move at all with out feeling so much pain and i couldnt walk at all without help from somebody. I couldnt stand up on my own. i got it around about my 11th week of pregnancy.
With DS1, I felt like I had been kicked between the legs until bruised and battered. That was my first clue. Difficultly walking and intense pain when laying on my side started after that.
Thank you ladies so much for sharing, it's always better to hear real feedback then to read "symptoms" online since experiences and web text can be very different.
I have this too. I'm almost 24 weeks and it's been happening for a few weeks now (since about 19 weeks is when I first remember it). This in addition to RLP, which seems to have subsided or maybe I just can't feel it anymore b/c the SPD hurts so bad, is bumming me out. It seems to be getting worse in that I used to wake up fine and gradually have pain until the evening when it hurt the worst. Now it seems to hurt when I first wake up. Lifting one leg to get dressed is horrible. Changing positions at night is rough. I haven't found any relief myself but my sister said a girdle helped her.
With my first the pain didn't start until around 7-8 months and I didn't even realize it till after I had the same pain at 6-7 weeks this pregnancy ! My dr linked it to SPD
Yes, this is my second pregnancy and dealing with this pain. I can't lift my legs up to get dressed. Walking sometimes is so unbearable, especially in the evening. Also, changing positions while sleeping is awful. I have heard going to see a chiropractor sometimes helps. Has anyone gone to one?
