Yes Nov 2015. 9 weeks. Recovery was about a week or so. I did have cramping for a day and light bleeding for a couple of days Emotionally it was very hard.
I did jan 2015 I didn't have a very good experience though but if I had to chose again I would still have the op rather than natural for me it was a personal choice to have it over with and not have to go thru it naturally Which I was told could have taken weeks to happen.
I had a D&C back in November, the day after Thanksgiving. I would have been 13 weeks that day. Recovery for me was fine, just a little crampy at the hospital. I was minutes away from needing a blood transfusion but luckily right as they ordered it the medication started working to slow the bleeding. I ended up finding out I have a minor allergy to Percocet as my throat would close if I took two, and I would get itchy if I only took one. The worst part about the surgery itself, for me, is having to wear a pad for a few days. All in all, considering the circumstances, the sadness after and coping is the worst part.
I had a d and c in early dec at about 9 weeks. I bled for a while , I think it stopped in January. I had my first period I believe in feb and then got pregnant end February.
I've had two. Back in 2010, both at 10 weeks along. Very little cramps afterward. Less than a period and even my period cramps are really light. Recovery was simple...physically of course. With my first I waited 4 weeks to miscarry naturally because I believe our bodies usually know how to best take care of us but 4 weeks was ridiculously long with zero signs my body was ever going to miscarry so I finally threw in the towel. With my second, I didn't wait at all but the baby had been dead for 2 weeks by the time I'd found out. I would have preferred a natural miscarriage both times but for whatever reason it just wasn't happening. So sorry you are going through this. I know it sucks terribly.
I had one Oct 30 at 14 weeks. The baby stopped growing at 10. Physical recovery was very easy, barely any bleeding or cramping. The emotional recovery was much more difficult. My dr didn't give me a lot of option because she was concerned about infection and said we needed to get the surgery scheduled or it would have to wait until Monday and she didn't want the miscarriage to happen naturally (even though it had been 4 weeks with no sign of anything happening!). My husband was afraid to commit because he kept holding out hope they were wrong, but I was absolutely terrified of going through that at home and knew that they weren't wrong. But as far as the actual procedure it was fast and easy, and it didn't even really hit me what had really happened for several days.
@knrickert I am so sorry to hear that (and I'm sorry to hear about all the others on this board who have experienced this procedure.) All my best wishes to you and your family.
How did you all know you needed one? Did symptoms happen telling you something was wrong? For example can you on your own tell if the baby stopped growing, or does it only show up on the U/S? I'm 15 weeks and so far everythong is fine but I'm so nervous for my 18 week u/s :-(
I had a D & C in December and I'm now 15 weeks along with a healthy baby. For me, I didn't have any symptoms, no bleeding cramping etc. They found that the baby had stopped growing around 8 weeks when they did an ultrasound so it was still very early on in the pregnancy. There was a slower heartbeat to begin with though, so I guess you could consider that a sign. As far as the procedure I was super nervous but it really was quick. I think all of 15 minutes and it was over with. I was sitting in the waiting room longer than I was in actual surgery. Recovery for me was a little painful with cramping but as long as you have a heating pad and take the medication they give you, you should be fine. Honestly I think it was more emotionally draining than actually painful. It's such a tough thing to go through but just know that it happened for a reason and you will go on to have a happy healthy baby in the future. Wishing you an easy recovery and many healthy babies in the future!!
