Not sure if any if you remember my initial struggles with BFing C. In a nutshell, after she got RSV at 2mo, she stopped nursing during the day and since then I've been pumping for all her daytime feeds. She will nurse at night when half asleep no problem. Anywho, I've been doing this for 4 months now and as a result we've become a bit recluse...
BUT we were forced into taking a 4 day trip which literally involved planes, trains and automobiles, staying at a hotel etc etc... AND I DID IT! Brough my trusty pump, 2 coolers for milk, pumped in the car, in the airport, at the hotel... And we survived. I didn't even run a deficit on my pumping output.
Whew!
My goal was to BF till 6m which is this coming Tues. After that I'll evaluate how long I can keep up with all the pumping. But this trip is probably the biggest logistical challenge I could have and I got over it... It will make for a great story some day.
Congrats!!!! It's super tough to pump in situations like that so great job! Exclusively pumping is HARD in even the best circumstances. Way to go Mama!
Great job! I breastfed, mostly pumping, until 1 year with my first. It gets easier as they start eating more solids and less milk! But great job getting as far as you did already.
Come to think of it, it stopped pumping at 11 months and let DS have the extra in the freezer. As he approached his first birthday, we started mixing in cows milk. He still nurses before bed though.
