It's really up to you, but if its not medically necessary then why?
Pros: you meet your little one sooner
Cons: possibly a more intense and longer birth experience per the nurse practitioner I spoke to today (I have an induction scheduled at 41w + 5)
I was induced with my first child and my labor was 36 hours. This doesn't mean that your labor would be as long as mine. I have friends who are induced and meet their child within a few hours. As far as intensity, I did end up with some very intense contractions and having an epidural after 24 hours. I cannot speak for how intense it would be if you went into labor naturally.
I was induced at 40 with my first and had a great experience. Doing it again with this one if I make it to 40. I'm not gonna lie, I mostly chose to induce for convenience. I'm a working mom and it's nice to have some control and plan maternity leave.
Hi! Being induced for non emergency/medically necessary reasons can make the birthing process more challenging and complicated, increasing the likelihood of a cascade of medical interventions, including increased likelihood of having a C-section. Synthetic oxytocin (aka pitocin) is not regulated by your body in the same way as what your boy produces on it's own, so contractions during inductions are often more intense and procose gOnce you have been induced, you are on the hospital's timeline, so if you are hoping for an uncomplicated/natural birth, it's best to wait for labor to start on it's own and then labor at home for as long as possible.
