I just totally realized that everyone is lying me! I am 28 weeks pregnant and, to be fair, I don't have a traditional huge baby bump yet, but everyone kept saying that they couldn't tell that I was pregnant, so I just went with it and didn't tell my boss. I just figured if people can't tell then I'm not going to tell him because he's really not supportive. Well, the truth just come out, I told another guys that is somewhat a boss of mine and he admitted he already knew and has for a long time, but he was waiting for me to tell him. I just don't get it, why do people lie to you when your pregnant. I guess it's my own fault for being so blind, but now I just feel like a total a**. I should have known better because I'm not necessarily over weight (pre-pregnancy 152 lbs, 5'5") and I have put on 15 lbs, but when everyone keeps saying something you really do start to believe it. I'm sure I won't get many people who relate to this because most people don't hid their pregnancy for so long as I did from their bosses nor are they as gullible or naive as I am, but damn it totally hurts to learn that you've been lied to for a very long time, by a lot of people.
I don't understand...you thought people at work didn't think you were pregnant because they didn't confront you about it? It's common courtesy to NEVER ask a woman if she's pregnant unless she offers that information to you. EVER. At work or otherwise.
Not to mention that there would be serious HR concerns if your boss asked you flat out if you were pregnant. It's your job to tell this to people, not their job to guess. FWIW I'd be pissed as your boss that you waited until 28 weeks to confirm your pregnancy...he now has very little time to figure out how to cover for you while you're on maternity leave.
I'm confused. You didn't tell anybody you were pregnant but people were saying they couldn't tell you were pregnant? Huh? If you didn't tell anybody why would people say you look pregnant at all?
Is it possible that someone you told could have let it slip to your somewhat-boss and that's how he knew? Also, why wait until 28 weeks to tell your boss? That seems a little inconsiderate, unless you have a position that won't need to be filled when you are away on maternity leave.
Yea, legally your boss/coworkers could get in a world of trouble for flat out asking you if you are pregnant; it's your obligation to tell them first. Andplusaslo, most people are aware that it is extremely rude to ask someone if they are pregnant. So, I'm not really sure who lied to you. I'm as confused as PPs are about your post.
