Heprhoids Any tips to shrink?!

i had constipation at week 21 then I noticed a bump! This is my first pregnancy and I'm at week 26 now & still have it! I've been using miralax & preparationH daily but I haven't noticed it shrinking at all. Will this go away soon? HELP! :(

Re: Heprhoids Any tips to shrink?!

  • I've had the same problem for a while. My doc suggested Tucks wipes and Preparation H but only the cream, the suppositories aren't safe. I only tried the cream, but it didn't work. I've heard the Tucks wipes work MUCH better but I haven't tried them yet. I was told that unfortunately, if those two don't work, I will have to wait until after I deliver to treat them because the other treatments aren't safe for pregnancy. Try the wipes and I hope you feel better! :)

It's the worst!! Honestly what worked for me was really focusing on my diet having a lot more water and vegetables and even more important- don't strain when you're on the toilet!!! Easier said than done sometimes. But chugging a glass of water sometimes helps getting things moving smoothly And then my bump went away after days of taking it easier
  • I have had hemorrhoids for years. For me, when they get bad, I have used prepH cream. I recently started just using witch hazel on a cotton pad instead of going out and buying tucks pads, and they relieve some of the discomfort. My doc just started me on iron supplements for my anemia, so I got some fiber too to help with the constipation I'm already dealing with. This morning, there was a lot more blood than usual from these hemorrhoids, enough to make me triple check that that's where it was coming from.

I have been using the wipes + prep H cream neither have helped or ruduced the swelling at all. Mine just keeps getting worse (since I bought the wipes) I guess delivery maybe my only relief... ( Im not even constipated so mine must be from all the xtra blood flow) :((

UPDATE: my grandma told me to use corn starch and it relieved the pain wayy better than the wipes or cream!

I have had them bad with two pregnancies.  My doctor prescribed steroid suppositories with my last pregnancy and I just got them for this one.  They are awesome, and work great, over night relief.  Ask to have some prescribed.

  • My doc suggested tucks wipes also but I haven't tried those!! It just scares me that it'll get worse during labor! Thanks for the suggestions Mommas! Lets hope it gets better!

This is my newest symptom and it's awful! I'm 25 wks and freaking out thinking it will be here til delivery! Prep H hasn't done much for me. I'm going to try the Tuck's pads next. Ugh!!!!
  • I've struggled with them all my life. Try to soak in a warm bath in Epsom salt. Just don't drink it. (I say that just because it's a laxative as well but it's not safe to drink while pregnant) the only other thing that helps me is the prep h or using witch hazel pads. (Crying makes me feel a little better too ;) but I'm just emotional lol)
  • I never had this with my first pregnancy and never had one otherwise, but I woke up with one yesterday after a really upset stomach the night before. This makes me so emotional! I don't feel like a woman. Ugh. And reading that preparation H and witch hazel pads may not work is so sad! Do you still have sex? I feel disgusting

  • I feel the same way. :( This pregnancy has been hard and it keeps getting harder. But it will be worth it in the end, we'll make it!!
  • To help with soreness , I use pertroleum jelly few times a day and helps me not strain especially in morning :)
