Anterior placenta

anyone had any problems with hearing heartbeat with an anterior placenta? I've read that it can be hard and I don't know if I should expect not to here it at my midwife appt on Friday I'll be 14+3 then.

    When I went for my appointment with my midwife after my scan she didn't listen to the heartbeat on a Doppler, only on a stethoscope so I didn't hear it. I also didn't hear it at my 12 week scan, just saw it flickering on the screen. They've only played it to me once on my first scan (9 weeks as high risk with HG) so even though my placenta isn't anterior I haven't really heard it anyway! But what I'm saying is I wouldn't expect them to let you listen anyway. Hopefully they do though as I found it the best part at the first scan! But if they do try and don't find it you may find you get an extra scan :-)

    My first 2 where both anterior placentas. DD1 was always hard to find HB and felt her kick much later 22-25 weeks. DD2 never had any issues with HB or felt around 18 weeks. I think it depends on the babies position too.

    I had an anterior placenta with my daughter, and at the beginning my OB always had a hard time finding her heartbeat.  And once he did find it, it was quiet like it was muffled. 

    Also, I didn't feel her until I was almost 22 weeks.  I had felt my son at 17 weeks.

    Ditto previous posts. My Dr never had an issue getting the heart beat of Doppler but the movements were very muffled throughout my pregnancy and I didn't really feel anything until the kicks started around 20wks.

    I was told i have anterior but the doctor found HB at 12.5 weeks on the doppler

    Cool thanks for all the info everyone. I was told i would here the heart beat at this appt by my midwife but when I had my 12 week scan they said it was an anterior placenta. Let's hope I get to here it :)
