Vbacs are successful all the time. They will not push too much IV pitocin on you as to not stress out your uterus. There are risks and there are benefits. If you are very nervous discuss this THOROUGHLY(sp?) with your physician. Don't go into it lightly. Be educated and your fears will slowly decrease. Good luck :-B

  • Ditto! I have a csection scheduled because I never went into labor with my first and they finally did csection at 42 weeks after unsuccessful induction.

This baby however knows her way out I feel. If she comes before csection date we will try vbac. Pretty nervous but I am confident my doc will make the right choice.

I said my "wishes" to doc and now am letting them steer the ship. I haven't delivered hundreds of babies and don't want the stress! Lol
  • I'm going for a vbac as well and I think being nervous is normal. Trust your body, trust your instincts and trust your body. The ACOG recommends vbac or at least a TOL. The risk for uterine rupture is .6%, the risk of catastrophic rupture which can cause death in you or baby is even less than that. I'm scared too, but there are risks with any kind of birth!

  • Good luck to you!  Have you checked out the resources from International Cesarean Awareness Network (ICAN)? They are an encouragement to many VBAC moms.
