Nuchal fold of 4.6

has anyone else here had a similar reading at their 12 week scan? My blood work showed 1/50 for DS and my nuchal fold was 4.6, which together have me 1/5 it will have DS. Had a CVS Friday... Waiting for results .... Anyone out there in a similar situation?

Newfie? Are you from NFLD? I was born and raised there. That's the only reason I am asking.

I didn't have a high fold number but my blood work came back 1:20 for trisomy 18. I have put an amnio on hold while we move but will be following up with my new doctor once I get to the new location.

  • No experience with this but I'm hoping you get good results from your cvs.
  • I had the same experience.  I went on Friday (12 weeks) for the US and was told that the Nuchal Translucency was large.  They didn't tell me the exact measurement but they told me there was a 1/5 chance that the baby has down syndrome.  Instead of a CVS or amnio I'm getting blood work and a second US which my doctor says will tell us with 99% accuracy.  Then we can go for the amnio if we want to be 100% sure.  The waiting is the worst part, I'm so upset but trying not to think about it b/c we just don't know yet.
  • It's a horrible feeling. We can chat privately if you like. Ive been crying in and off since Thursday

We had a concerning scan as well, which put our odds at 1:30 for Down syndrome. Absolutely terrifying. We opted for a CVS since it's diagnostic and gives a definitive answer. The cell free DNA blood work is just a screening test and will give you your odds again (1:1000, etc), so I didn't feel like that would be helpful. The waiting and not knowing is the worst part. We got our CVS results back Friday and everything came back normal! Hoping the same for you!
