Spotting at 5 weeks

my husband and I had sex last night and this morning when I woke up to go to the bathroom there was a little bit of bleeding. I have miscarried before so I'm a little freaked out. I am also trying to keep my pregnancy a secret from my husband so I can surprise his with at a photoshoot at the beginning of next month. Please tell me I'm not crazy! Please tell me everything should be ok!

From what I've read, quite a lot of people have a little bleeding early on. I'm sure it'll be OK. Just check with your doc to be on the safe side.

  • Spotting isn't always a symptom of mc! Specially after sex! If it's not as much as your regular menstruation bleeding and it doesn't last for that long you should be ok! If you start bleeding too much or have serious pain in your lower abdomen you should go to the er or consult your doctor. Otherwise just relax! Hope it helped!
  • Yes that helped a lot. It was just the once in the morning. That makes me feel much better.
  • I had some at 5 weeks too. My doc just said if it persists or its heavier than your period would be to make an appt. ps good luck waiting my emotions were so out of wack he would've known anyways
  • Spotting is common after sex while pregnant.
How the heck are you able to keep it a secret?!
I had a hard time keeping it from DH for 12hrs.

I had spotting at 5 weeks due to implantation. It was kinda scary
  • I'm 6.5 weeks and experiencing spotting. I had a US on Thursday and saw/heard baby's heartbeat though so my doc said it's normal. Apparently sex, and any other irritation to the cervix can cause spotting or bleeding, and I even talked to a couple moms today who had light periods while pregnant. Doc and nurses all say it's okay unless you start cramping, feel like you are going to pass out, or if it's a LOT of blood. I'm planning to ask for beta testing tomorrow though because mine is increasing (although no cramping, and still not a ton). I think we all just need to try not to worry so much :-). Best wishes to you!
