I STILL didn't know I was pregnant

did yall know about this show on TLC? Apparently there are enough women who go through two or more pregnancies without knowing it to make a whole show!

I don't know about everyone else but I think even if I didn't notice not having my period, my belly dispensing, my breasts enlarging and becoming sore, i would definitely notice being kicked from the inside!

At the very least you think you'd be pretty vigilant after the first time...

  • I totally agree! Or being nauseous or peeing a lot
  • I can see it happening once, as it happened to my mom. She was body building at the time and had a 6 pack when she delivered. She felt no movement, no sickness, and was having bleeding monthly every 30 days. She took a urine AND a blood test that was negative, and she gave birth to my brother. But I mean if that happens to you once, you think you'd be more careful the second time and keep an eye out for things?!
  • Soooo...I've known since 4.5 weeks, because I was charting, but honestly, with how irregular I was, and stuff, I'd see myself having this happen.  Even at 28 weeks, I don't feel "pregnant" yet.  But I would assume I'll get bigger in the next few weeks to where itd be obvious.  But then again, Im not huge in the first place.

  • My close friends mom was six months pregnant before she found out. She had two or three kids already and due to her age she thought she was starting menopause. She didn't feel him move and thought she was just having constipation issues and getting the flu. Her son is the same age as my daughter and has a lot of health complications because of the medicines she took when she didn't know.

Lol that show was crazy. I remember this one mom who was a rock star at the time said she didn't know she was pregnant. But when they showed pictures of her performing, it was apparent she had a belly that definitely looked like a small beach ball forming under her shirt... Lol

I know it happens but there is no way I couldn't know. I don't really look pregnant so I understand that...but I'm almost 29 weeks and have been feeling my little girl move since 19 werks and currently it feels like there is a dance routine going on in my belly all the time!
  • ....I'm sorry but I will NEVER EVER understand this.

Me either. I just don't get it. With the million symptoms and side effects one would think a pregnancy would be suspected.

  • Yeah I have a hard time believing any of it is real- to me it is just DENIAL

Could I see the first couple months not knowing? Sure, definitely - but honestly after that don't believe it

I guess pregnancy is so different for everyone it's hard to say. Personally, I have very pronounced and obvious symptoms, so I could never not know.
  • My favourite of these stories is the British woman who was serving in Afghanistan... She presented at the medical tent with stomach pains and gave birth to a baby boy.. Apparently that was the first she knew of the pregnancy. A hell of a story for the child to recount someday....

  • There are a few people on here who just found out one was at 20 weeks and the other I think was around 16 weeks they had no clue!

I can understand this. A lot of women won't have any symptoms at all, (and amenorrhea can be caused from other factors as well). At that point in pregnancy most women, especially first time moms, haven't been able to feel movement yet.
  • My best friend didn't find out with her 2nd until she was 18 weeks along. She has anemia so her periods have never been regular. She is pretty tall and naturally thin so like her previous pregnancy she was not showing at all. She has been working out like crazy trying to get fit for her sisters wedding the same year. She was doing crunches at the gym and peed herself! That's when she knew something was off, went to the dr and they told her she was pregnant. She had no clue. The ultrasound showed the baby was around 18 weeks and healthy baby boy. She went on to have a perfectly healthy baby! Luckily she had been clean eating and not drinking etc since she was trying to get fit for the wedding.

  • I was just watching this... I found myself wishing I could have that kind of pregnancy only know about it so I could prepare and take care of baby!
  • How do you not know on a second.

My first has been easy, im not showing a ton, she moves--but mostly when im sleeping or laying down so I wouldn't notice it much.  The period thing could happen whenever...but TWICE.  Eesh...

  • Placenta placement has a lot to do with when one feels the baby. I believe if the placenta is posterior you will feel baby sooner and more often but when it is anterior the placenta acts as a barrier. But also your weight has a lot to do with it too. I have a few friends who were pregnant while overweight and they didn't feel the baby often and didn't even feel it till they were far a long. One didn't find out till after 5 months and the other only found out cause she thought she was going through menopause and went to the Dr. It just really depends. Women who aren't expecting to get pregnant may pass off whatever symptoms they do get until they just can't anymore.
