Cloth Diapers

We finally decided on cloth diapers and bite the bullet to buy them yesterday. I thought they'd cost more but it wasn't too bad given they should last till potty training. We bought Grovia, 24 sets (12 covers and 24 inserts) for just over $500. What are you ladies doing diaper wise?

    Bum Genuis 4.0.
  • Loading the player...
  • We purchased Bum Genius 4.0 from GreenNursery.com.
  • I bought some bum genius from ebay, I wanted to try them out before I commit. Also bought some seventh generation on sale from Amazon for the first few months because the kids poop 6-8 times a day, that's more cloth than I wanna change.
  • I buy anything and everything. I like having different options. I been ordering from WAHM recently. Ohh and my new love is ordering shortiloones or however you spell it. Can't wait to start using my fluff!
  • Flip & Bum Genius.
  • Sunbabydiapers.com is where we got ours. Haven't compared prices on too many but I thought they were a great price. They have different packages you can choose from. Mine are all washed and ready to go!

Kanga Care from Buy Buy Baby and Charlie Banana from Target are on our gift registries. Also, we're having a cloth diaper door raffle (instead of the standard, disposable diaper raffle).

Edited because I just can't right now

I've been cloth diapering my son for 2 years now. I definitely would not suggest buying your entire stash before the baby is born. I bought one or two of several different styles and brands before he was born and I'm glad I did. I thought I would like the prefolds and covers...NOPE! I detest them! I'm all about the pockets! I thought my favorite pockets would be the BG 4.0s, they are a decent diaper but I have to say, my go to diapers are the relatively inexpensive Alvas. At least cloth has a decent resale value if you find that you don't like them. It is totally addicting though, so be careful of that! You can spend a not so small fortune on cloth!

Our cloth diapers are making their third round (albiet some are finally biting the dust after 4 years of heavy use). We CD from birth and use Kissaluv 0s with a variety of covers, but mostly Thirsties for the newborn days. The early BF poops are just so liquidy and frequent that I prefer fitteds. Once the poops slow down and baby is a bit bigger, I'll transition to prefold + Snappi and a mix of other things.  For 6 months+ we use a mix of PF tri-folded, lay-ins, and pockets. For nights past 6 months, we like layering cotton and hemp in a wool cover.
  • We went with Blueberry. Doing their newborn covers with bummis organic prefolds. Also got a few newborn all in ones of theirs(the Simplex) for when in a hurry. After that we will decide if we can live with prefolds or will try out a new system. My SIL loves her BG 4.0. She was having leaking issues before she switched
  • I have a good mix of BumGenius and kawaii green baby. FT cloth diaperer here, but third baby so this is all new. I have a few random others too so if I like them I'll invest in more of those kinds. We plan on 2-3 more kids after this one so I figure they'll get used for sure!

  • Our gdiapers are making their second round.
  • I found used flips for $5 a piece.. Whoop whoop!!
  • We've used prefolds and pockets. I prefer the pockets. We use BumGenius 4.0.

This company lets you rent (and you can keep them if you decide you want them) allll different types of cloth diapers, so you can see what works for you/r LO. And then has some incentives for buying your choices from there, once your rental period is up.

I am not affiliated with this company in any way, but found them in my own explorations and am planning to use their services once we are back in the US this fall. Can't vouch for them yet.
