Aspartame is very bad for you. For that reason, even though I like diet soda better, I have only been drinking soda with sugar cane. One once in awhile won't hurt, but be careful about your aspartame intake!
I personally won't drink it because of aspertame and sucrolose. If you can find some without it, then yea perfect! But just ask your doc if it's okay.. They say sucrolose is safe.. But it gives me migraines and makes me feel gross. Aspertame is just horrible stuff all around.
Now I want some!!! I'm totally addicted to seltzer. This could be a nice change up. And I just read an article about whether seltzer is hydrating and whether it has the same negative effects as soda (for ex/decalcification of your bones). According to that MD, yes it is hydrating and no it doesnt decalcify. #WINNING!!!!!
I got mine from Harris Teeter I assume Safeway and Whole Foods carries them too. If you are watching caffeine the cherry flavor has 40mg. The orange has zero.
I was told yesterday that I have Gestational Diabetes, and when I was researching online about diet, I read that artificial sweeteners are what I should use instead of sugar. Obviously I won't be drinking a lot of it, but I think when I have my soda cravings it will help me a lot. Anyone else have any alternatives? Obviously I drink a shit pot of water too, but sometimes that just doesn't cut it!

I have GD also - I'm having a small diet coke or Pepsi max once a week and that's about it - my diabetes educator said all diet fizzy drinks are ok (she drank them everyday while pregnant with GD) but I'm a bit nervous about the artificial sweeteners/chemicals
I can't stomach the taste of artificial sweeteners, but sugar is on my no no list right now. I suggest unsweetened iced tea, or water with cucumber and an herb (mint/cilantro).
Not to crush anyone's dreams but stevia is still a form of sugar, so don't go wild. I have usually been buying club soda, then mixing it with the smallest amount of juice (yes, still sugar) possible to fill the craving. Still way less than a conventional soda though. Pineapple juice is my favourite! I even threw in some coconut water a few times to give me the pina colada feeling.
