I had my second appointment the other day. My doctor ended up not being there but I still had my u/s and blood work done. They told me he was out for the day so I would just see him next month. With my 2 singleton children there was always an extra doctor that would see me if my primary doctor was out.
I'm a little concerned that if he is on vacation or sick who the heck is going to see me? I'm traveling further out as well and I don't want to go all the way out there when I can go to the hospital/doctor that is 5 minutes away from me. The whole reason why I chose this doctor is because this will be my second VBAC and I'm limited who will do it. Now that we know we are having twins its not a for sure thing anyway. I'm not sure if I should look for a new doctor in my town or stay with him.
I'm not sure if I'm being too emotional about it or not, so would like some opinions
That does seem odd! And no, your feelings are totally valid! Usually, if my doctor cannot make it, they would call and reschedule or have me choose another available doctor. But I would at least talk to him and ask him about what happened and let him know your concerns. Maybe call him or make another appointment. If his answers don't eleviate your concerns, definitely find a new one!
Since you are having twins I would go with a closer Dr. I chose my hospital based on the NICU and which is faster to drive to (we have two level 3s in my area not including children's). Unless you have your heart set in VBAC and he is the only one who will do it but even the what if they aren't on call when you go into labor will others at the practice agree to your plans?
