Bed rest would begin at 35 weeks, the government would give them a year of paid leave, and of course they would be provided with a nurse to help them adjust to life with baby....
This is so true! If men had babies...... They would know the feeling of this picture ....... And probably get angry about it but NEVER actually tell us.... Just stew about it.
I was speaking with a woman at the library today who had her children back when you still needed your husband's permission for certain things, even though they weren't usually allowed in the delivery room. She said that after her fourth baby she wanted to get her tubes tied, but her husband wasn't on board and she legally needed his consent. So when it came time to deliver, she threw a huge fit and the hospital gave in and let her husband observe the birth. 12 hours later, he signed the forms... and apparently, now that he actually knew what she went through, he pampered her like crazy after that baby was born! So in that case, the guy didn't even have to have the baby, he just had to observe the birth... thank goodness dads are allowed in the room now - I'm sure there are still some who aren't sympathetic, but I think men in general have come a long way because of that if this lady's story is any indication!

Funny you mention this because last night I was talking about all the hippie ways to induce labor (spicy food, tea, sex, etc...) and DH in all seriousness said "why do you want to rush to be in that kind of pain again"... I was glad he was remembering how difficult it was but I also wanted to say "oh yeah because being pregnant is all about feeling great and having fun" haha
DH did tell me after DS "If you never want to go through that again, I will never ask you for more children." Not all men are clueless but I don't think most could handle it!
Ha! On call nurses would be at hand from the BFP to assist with morning sickness and wipe their brows and bring them ginger ale during the first tri. Bed rest would begin at the first onset of dizziness. On call nurse would empty bedpan, as they would not get up to pee that often while they were that tired. Grumbles about everything would be amplified.
I kid the men. They would probably do better than I painted. Some of them, lol. DH I think is coming around to how rough this is for me (us, women in general), with as generally smooth of a pregnancy as I have had (serious mad props to the ladies who have been dealing with any kind of issue).
It would be interesting....my DH literally thought he was dying when he got food poisoning. Not exaggerating!
Also, I had a D&C two Summers ago and DH passed out just from observing me getting an IV placed. He was telling this to some co workers, and one of the guys was like "my wife was a nurse that day and was telling me about you!" I guess DH gave all the nurses/doctors a good laugh that day! He's also passed out from getting his eyes dilated! So we would probably be childless!

I know ... My husband needs special treatment just for feeling tired... Forget about having a cold! I can't imagine him dealing with pregnancy... I know I wouldn't be able to put up with it though...
Lol this post and comments had me rolling! My husband acts worse than my daughter when he's sick. Could you imagine all complaining? Most men eat like garbage disposals already I could only imagine the grocery bill and cravings!?
