Pregnant after IF

pregnant after four years of trying concern of eclampsia

So after trying for four years my husband and I went to a fertility specialist. We did two rounds of clomid and the second round took. I'm currently five weeks. I go in next week for an ultrasound to confirm where it embedded. Apparently fertility drugs put you at higher risk for eclampsia. I wasn't worried until my right shoulder started hurting. I've hurt that shoulder over a year ago and it does periodically act up. I'm hoping that's all this is. I have had no spotting or bleeding, mild cramps but nothing painful. I know shoulder pain happens when a tube ruptures but could that be the first symptom of eclampsia or is my fear unfounded? I go into my doctor's tomorrow for blood work but just wanted to get an idea of what to expect.
Thanks for reading.

Oh my. You have a heavy case of IF brain! First off- congrats on the positive beta! Second- don't overthink too much! I know it's hard to tell us girls that but you just have to find a way! Nothing you will find here will be a suitable substitute for a doctor visit... But I am happy to give my opinion on your questions :)

You are way way way early for Pre-eclampsia. I double checked my suspicion by googling "eclampsia 5 weeks" and it only pulled "pre-eclampsia 5 weeks". The first few articles said it is a condition to be watchful for after 20 weeks. Granted, there are circumstances that suggest otherwise, but I believe your doctor would have talked to you about that. I.E. Previous pregnancies with preeclampsia or mother or even MIL with preeclampsia during their pregnancies.
As for the possibility that it is ectopic tubal burst- that IS possible. However, it would likely be one of several symptoms- you would likely be bleeding or spotting as well. I have heard it is so painful that you won't mistake it for anything else. But if you think it's possible, a trip to the ER is what you would need! I suspect your doctor would have told you that had he thought a tubal rupture was happening

If you had low betas- your doctor probably would have been suspicious of ectopic pregnancy already.

So- it sounds like an old fashioned case of IF brain. We have all been there, done that :) try to allow yourself to enjoy this! I know it's hard.... But do try. You don't want to regret spending 40 weeks in a panic!
