Touching the bump

How do you guys feel about people wanting to touch your belly? I've heard some people around me say they hated it.

Re: Touching the bump

  • That's cute, my Nephew is 2 and he was like "there's a baby in there! Can I see?" Lol my coworkers and family love to touch my belly but it's all people notice now on me. I'm thin & I've been thin my whole life, I've struggled to gain weight bad so it's very noticeable on me but people don't even ask, they walk by me and have to put their hand there. They can't feel anything yet but I sure can & im kind of weirded out by the movements in feeling already
  • Honestly it doesn't bother me. I've had a friend who miscarried and had two children die as infants after birth. I don't know what the future holds and I'm greatful they are loved while here

  • I just don't like being touched full stop, it look me a while to be touchy feely with my partner. So I certainly feel uncomfortable with someone touching my belly, especially with out asking. You've got to expect it being pregnant I guess. But if you truly don't want to be touched just politely tell them not it as it makes you uncomfortable. That's what I do :)
  • Little kids? Yes. Close family? Yes. Close, close friends? Yes. Anyone else?... Helllllll no! I like my bubble! If someone asks that I don't feel comfortable allowing in said bubble, I just very politely explain that I'm really protective of my belly now due to FTM syndrom but I really appreciate them asking.
  • One of my students touches my little bump everyday. She's just too excited! That doesn't bother me and she's the only one so far. I don't think I'll be a fan of strangers touching me. My friend found a maternity shirt that says "if you touch my belly, I'm totally going to grab your boob." Hilarious!
  • I don't mind if family/friends touches it. It's their way of being connected to a baby who they love already! I wouldn't tolerate strangers doing it, though, just like I don't appreciate them touching my body at any other time without permission.
  • It just bothers me that my boyfriend is not for touching my belly, he says he's weirded out by it :/
  • Hasn't happened to me w any strangers yet. I don't mind friends or family touching but mostly they haven't either. Maybe I smell bad? Jk
  • Noone touched my bump with DS. I was at a gathering with friends around 28 weeks and one of the wives I didn't really know kept eying my stomach. I finally asked her if she wanted to feel and she lit up, it really didn't feel how I always thought it would. Other than that one instance, noone ever touched but hubby and family. I have touched coworkers' bumps since DS was born, but I always ask first. Love me some babies!

No touching yet but I'm pretty sure it's coming with one of my coworkers. He's been really weird since i got pregnant. Every day he asks questions and pulls me aside all the time to tell me how "good pregnancy looks on me" and pretty I've been looking. (I guess some men are either into bloating and random forehead acne or he's really humoring me) He also likes to bring me random food during the day. I know when the bump gets bigger, he's going to pat it. He's a nice person but I'm not totally sure it's appropriate. We're both married and we work together.

My other coworker informed me that she'd probably pat it when it got a bit bigger but we're pretty close so I think I'll be fine with that.
  • I don't mind people I know having a rub, but strangers.. NO! And if touching it isn't bad enough I was asked by a woman I don't know last week if she could look at my belly!!
  • Besides my husband, if you touch my bump either be prepared for me to touch you inappropriatly or get hit.

I had my little one 6 weeks ago nearly and when I was pregnant I hated being touched!! Was a no go for me!!
Only people that I was ok with was my two little sisters who are 3&4 prt from that no one else. Not even my partner.
I don't know why it bothered me. I guess everyone is different
  • My husband and I just told his side of the family, waiting to tell my family til Father's Day. My MIL and I don't have the best relationship, she's a lot better about trying now but I still have resentment from her previous behavior. I'm only 12 weeks and there isn't anything really there yet but she rubbed without my belly without permission for about 3 seconds before I backed away and told her I'm uncomfortable. I know she's going to touch it every chance she gets, so I may have to be very straight forward and tell her she can touch it when I tell her it's ok. I don't think I will like anyone but my husband touching it, especially when it is done unasked. And as for strangers, I will tell them they are being rude.
