Tailbone pain?

Anybody else have tailbone pain? It's been killing me the past couple weeks and I didn't do anything to it.. Didn't fall or slip or anything. The only thing I can think of is maybe it's pregnancy related? Anyone else?

Re: Tailbone pain?

  • Oh and I'm only 14 weeks so baby is size of a lemon.. Can a baby that small be pushing down on it?

  • Could be that your joints are loosening and you could use a chiropractic adjustment. I went to one my entire first pregnancy and have an appt today. I am ECSTATIC to go lol!!

I have suffered from that for the past few weeks, especially after running. My SIL is an ob/gyn and she said its probably from a subtle change in your center of gravity.

Oh yes, I've been feeling it for a few weeks. It's worse when I've been sitting down for a little bit and I try to move!
  • Ok good I'm not the only one! Holy I can't sit down
  • I woke up this morning and am having the same problem! When I walk my tailbone kills!

I'm 12 weeks this week, and I've had it for about two weeks or so.

  • I had that issue from when I was around 12 weeks until about 14 weeks. I'm nearly 16 weeks now and don't have it. My guess is that the baby was growing and pushing on the bone. As the baby grows, though, it also starts moving higher, which might be the reason I don't feel it anymore.
  • I had the same exact problem staring around 11 weeks. I went to the chiropractor because I could barely walk... She told me it was because of all the changes my body is going through and mostly because of relaxin. My sacrum was shifted way to the left and I've been going twice a week for adjustments for the past 3 weeks. I feel almost 100% better!
  • I am having the same issue. It's horrible. The only suggestion I have is to visit your chiropractor.
  • I have also been getting tail bone pain , or ciatic nerve pain or something. Pretty annoying
  • It's most likely sciatic nerve pain. It is terrible. There are different things you can do, mostly stretches to help relieve it. Google it and you can find videos of how to.
If it's really really awful talk to your dr and ask for a referral to a good chiropractor or pt who has worked with pregnant women and understand the issues.
    Good luck.
  • Could be hemroids if your constipated
  • Yes! I fracture mine giving birth to my first... Use a donut pillow . It takes the pressure off the bone when you sit. They even have tailbone pillows on eBay for like $10.
