24 weeks and Haven't done a thing yet....

I'll start off by I'm superly (I'm sure I just made that word up) excited about this pregnancy (its #3 for us). I've had an amazing pregnancy so far. Not too much morning sickness in the beginning, I'm still able to make it through my long 12 hour shifts of patient care. I've been keeping up with my usual at home duties, such as cleaning, cooking (well not quite as much but it still happens enough), soccer practice and games, etc. But I have NOT bought a single thing for baby yet. Which you may be thinking "its baby #3, so why do you need to get stuff." Well easy answer, every SIX years we decide to have a baby LOL No seriously all 3 kids will be six years apart and we have NOTHING left from when the kids were babies. We haven't made a registry. I haven't thought about a shower or sprinkle whatever the term will be we use to celebrate our little guy. Haven't thought about the nursery. Or childcare options for after baby comes. The other two kids are in school fulltime so no worries there. :::sigh::: I guess we did decide on a name so that counts as "a thing" but still today I'm emotional and becoming more so as I realize that I haven't done anything for little Ronen James (btw I'm still sad hubby wont agree with Ronen Ace!) Time to figure out dinner...

Re: 24 weeks and Haven't done a thing yet....

  • I haven't done nothing either. I'm 24 weeks too. #4 for us but our last babies were 10 years ago so we don't have a shred of anything baby/toddler left. Honestly I didn't want to buy anything until the baby was at least viable. We still have almost 4 months to get things done. Should be plenty of time!!

  • I'm a FTM and 24 weeks as well. I have not done anything and sort of freaking out. Her room literally has empty boxes and a vacuum cleaner in there. We just moved into our new house last month and a lot of our funds went to our down payment. We are finally getting back to a normal routine. I did pick out fabric for her curtains and crib skirt and getting paint samples when i leave work today. Starting a baby registry this weekend. Ughh so much to do!!
  • I'm 22 weeks and the only thing I have done is find childcare for after he is born. Hopefully we will do our registry this weekend so we can see on paper what we actually need and go from there. We don't have space for a nursery, so our needs should be fairly simple and low key. We can't agree on a name which is stressing me out more than not having anything done crazily enough!

  • I have been collecting some hand-me down clothes from family members and have a cradle swing thing... that's about it! I am done working in 11 working days (I work in the schools) until the end of August... so I figure I'll have some time to get cracking this summer!

  • I've bought four outfits and some nautical decor for the nursery but that's it.  I'm reusing almost everything from my daughter but I still need to paint the nurse and order his dresser.  It's funny how different things are for the second baby.  When I was pregnant with my daughter I got things done so early!

This is my sixth. Just last night I finally ordered my nursing pillow and some CJ's BUTTer (diaper cream). I got used (but look like new) NB+ clothes from someone thankfully.

But I haven't prepared a place for baby. After a few babies you kind of side eye all this baby gear and know how little it can get used lol.

  • I've bought a new car seat and that's all I really plan on doing until baby is here. We're team green but will be re-using DS2 stuff anyway since it was all gender neutral until about 9months.
  • Lol! This is our 3rd, as well and we don't even have a name. But I had my 2nd last May and even though #2 was a girl and #3 is a boy I still have some stuff. But no nursery...nada. Except a gender neutral car seat...lol.

23 weeks, third child, nothing done... Nada. Still have some things in storage from Dds 1 and 2 but not sure what we have and what we need. I am hoping to get a lot done this summer, but I hope to get a lot done every day, lol.

I do know this baby will have what is needed when it is needed and tons of love of course.
  • We are first timers...we've done virtually nothing. I'm ok with this, though. We are rearranging careers and doing major major reconstruction on ourselves emotionally, mentally, financially, etc...to prep for sweet boy.

At some point, we'll get his physical necessities.

Maybe that's just my excuse for having done nothing? :-/

This is our first kid and only yesterday I started to nest. I went in to one closet and just dumped out anything that I did not use for a year.
My husband is in semi shock now after seeing how many bags of art stuff that I tossed out. Now he is begging me to keep my 6'x6' feet paintings that I have done in college. But I have not seen them since college! Lol. No room for them.
  • I certainly don't mean any offense, but I have to say that reading this makes me feel like I've been more productive than I thought. I really haven't purchased much, but at least its a start I suppose. I think I started the whole "nesting" thing about a week or two ago because I've been doing whatever I have energy and money for over the past two weeks. If you'd have asked me before then, well it was hard to just get out of bed at that point! LOL

I'm 28 weeks today and just barely bought the bedding for the crib this past week...for the imaginary crib LOL. We decided we're going to start our registry tomorrow, but yeah, don't feel bad. I'm not the procrastinating type, but I figured once we get started, we'll gain momentum and get things done. Here's hoping! :P
  • This makes me feel so much better about the fact I've done nothing. I have a couple friends due about the same time posting all their furniture pictures and meanwhile the babies room is filled with all my craft stuff...

And that is why i felt so "behind" so to say when I posted the original post. Like whoa, I thought I had months to go still but everyone seems to be prepared already (nurseries planned, shower planned, childcare, etc) Is it just me? But apparently it's not. Just had an overwhelmed pregnant moment! (Plus couldn't figure out how to delete my post!)

Thanks for all the replies ladies! & happy 20-something week to all of you
  • I could have written this myself except we are expecting a girl. All of ours are girls and will be 10 right before baby gets here and almost 3. We did save all the 2 year olds clothes so this baby is set with clothes bee are remodeling our kitchen so we don't live in our house right now and are staying with my MIL. We are purchasing another home right now to move to on a few weeks so baby will finally have her own room. I have Ike's out needing that I like but my cousin is making it and I need to find the fabric online to order for her to make it. We have almost completely decided on a name. So as soon as we get settled in a few weeks I can really start getting babies stuff ready. Luckily we only need another car seat and a baby monitor besides nursery furniture and another rocking chair.
  • All I've done so far is create my registries (about 4 lol), just to have options. I also bought a set of books for my baby girl. I'm not setting up a nursery as my DH doesn't want her to be in that room. But I'll get a move on things further into my pregnancy.

3rd child and 23 weeks. Nothing here. My youngest is 4. We gave everything away. Didn't think I wanted a 3rd and decided I do. 4 months left and I guess I need to start planning. I do have a friend who is going to let me use a lot of stuff like swing, bouncy seat, ect and I do have a crib and dresser. We aren't finding out the sex, so I'm not buying or doing anything until after the baby comes. I figure I can online shop while the baby nurses. Ha
  • I haven't bought much yet besides a bouncer at a thrift shop and a couple cloth diapers! I have researched and prepared like crazy, but it's hard pulling the trigger on some things- partly because I don't want to spend the money and also because I don't know what to expect from my baby shower and parents/in-laws. Then we just found out that we may be moving a month after baby is born (military PCS), so I don't know if I'm even going to bother doing a nursery if it's going to be packed and taken away a few weeks after he's born. Which kind of sucks because I was really looking forward to doing that this summer... alas, he may spend his first month in a pack n play in the corner of the bedroom with no super cute wall hangings or bookshelves (that he won't even know/care are there anyway, lol).

Now just wating to see what i get at the baby showers im getting thrown for me and start buying from what i didnt get from there!
  • 23 weeks and we've hardly done anything! This is our first. We did get our registries done. Our computer/craft room needs to be cleaned out and moved to the guest room and our bedroom. Need to clean out that closet as well. My inlaws bought the stroller and car seat. It's in a box in the garage, along with the convertible high chair and pack n play. I wouldn't have bought them yet except they were lightening deals on amazon prime a few weeks ago. Lol I assumed I'd get some crazy burst of energy in the 2nd tri and get stuff done. Still hasn't happened.
