My appointment is at 11 across the street from my house. I have already downed 26oz. And I am ready to pee my pants!!! I so hope they don't make me wait in the lobby for long when I get there. I will LITERALLY pee my pants!
I have my anatomy scan next Wednesday at 9:30 out of town (hour drive). I know when I wake up I'm going to have to pee! But then try to drink a ton on the way up before my scan!
Don't drink the whole 32oz....every time I do, they tell me my bladder is too full and make me pee after I've been holding it in preparation for the appt, then they do the ultrasound. Lol
Ya mine is always too full and they make m go to the bathroom there cuz everything is too squished. And i usually only start drinking the water like an40 min - an hr before and only 500ml max.
I've never been told to drink anything.. the one time my bladder just happened to be about half full the tech made me go and completely empty.. that was when I had a scan at the hospital my doctors office always has me pee in the cup as soon as I get there even if we are doing an ultrasound.
What I did was drink the 32 Oz I used the restroom getting there and had another water bottle drank half and told the nurse If I need more water she can tell me and I would drink the extra water I had.

My doctor told me I don't need to have a full bladder. Huge relief for me. I had an ultrasound as a teenager because of a concern with my ovary and had to have a full bladder....horrible! I had to stop at a Subway to use the bathroom or I would have peed my pants in the car!
Yeah I definitely had to pee before I left the house lol then chugged 20 more oz. She took the pictures she needed while my bladder was full then let me empty my bladder. Phew! I peed three times before I left! Lol definitely glad that's over!
Last time they had me come in with a full bladder they made me wait an hour for my ultrasound. They felt I didn't understand the genetic tests because I wanted the Harmony test and the NT scan. So they sat there talking to me like I was an idiot while my bladder was on fire. Finally I was like "look, I get it, and I'm not confused. Just tell me if I can't do both and let's get this over with. If you don't start the scan I'm going to pee on this floor." They apologized and started it right away. Next time, they can wait for my bladder to fill up!
I cheated and started drinking the water an hour before...I didn't even finish the full liter (I was very close) before my ultra sound and the tech commented on how full my bladder was.
Neither one of mine required a full bladder and I went to two different offices. I remember my sister saying she threatened to pee on the tech when she had her anatomy scan because of the full bladder rule.
I think I am supposed to drink some water about an hour before.
During a previous pregnancy a tech got really rude with me because I drank a carbonated beverage before the scan and that causes gas bubbles ehich make it hard to see. I didn't know!!
@cgummie I heard that with older ultrasound machines you need to have a full bladder. I've never been given any instructions with either of my two pregnancies. They even let me go to the bathroom when I get to my appt, too.
My midwives said for U/S 18wks+ drink only 2 glasses of water 2 hrs prior (16oz). I drank the required 32oz for my first 10wk U/S and they just made me pee it all out because they couldn't see anything. The tech told me that if you are usually quite well hydrated, it's not necessary to drink the full 32oz...this, they told to me after 3 hrs of holding it in!!
I was never told to drink that much. All they said was to have a full bladder, which takes practically nothing these days. I never usually drink soda, but I might have one or a juice before just so she is active for the scan
For my NT scan, I was to to drink 32 oz, and I did. And I went to the bathroom while waiting for my appointment and let out just enough to not pee myself. They say you need a "full" bladder, but I think they really mean not empty. There's no way I'd be able to sit through 30 plus minutes of someone prodding my abdomen if I was about to burst full.
When I had my anatomy scan with DS, I misunderstood the instructions and emptied my bladder, and I had to chug a bunch of water so they could do the scan.

I don't know how people can do this. I've tried before but once I start peeing I can't stop Lmao
Re: 32oz.. Seriously?!?
