car seat deliemma

We don't have a car seat yet, well we do have a car seat we just don't actually HAVE the car seat. My dad bought us the car seat and the arrival date was June 17th,I'm due June 24th. We knew we were cutting it close but I wasn't particularly worried about it. Well the manufacturer just changed the release date to June 30th and now our arrival date is July 2nd, to say I'm panicked is an understatement. On top of our ever growing "get things done before baby arrives" list a car seat is not something I wanted to stress about. We have found a friend willing to loan hers to us but I'm not sure how I feel about that. Using a used car seat for one and two since she is still using it in her stroller we don't know when we will actually be able to use it and installing a car seat the day we take baby home is not something I wanted to do. Also switching munchkin from one car seat to another two weeks later is that a good idea?
My question is what should we do? What would you do?
By the way, this pregnancy anxiety is no joke.

    Have the order cancelled and get a different car seat, or from a different supplier.  I can't fathom why it would take that long to get a car seat.

    If you must have that one for some reason, then you'll have to either buy an inexpensive new one, or borrow one.  You might not even have your lo by the 2nd of July!  A used one is more than fine, your friend is not I'm sure going to pawn one off on you that's been in a car accident etc.  I'm using one given to me as well.  Just remember you'll need it possibly for lo's first check up too.

    Thanks guys,it was nice to hear some advice other than my husbands!
    We are not going to cancel the ordered car seat being that it goes with the stroller we have and I've done a lot of research and this is the one we chose.
    It wasn't supposed to take this long to arrive to us,originally we registered for the uppababy Mesa 2014 when our shower came around my dad informed me that the 2014 was discontinued (not sold in stores or online)and the 2015 was the only available option but it would arrive a little late. Since it is the car seat we really want we decided a few days before our due date was no big deal but things have changed at this point obviously.

    If your set on it I would just use the friends they won't let you leave the hospital without one, so while you might have to hang out for a bit your lo will be safe :) we were gifted a car seat which we checked of course so I have no problem with using one from a friend as long as it doesn't have a recall or been in an accident. Another option is to buy an unexpensive one in the mean time so you have an extra. Hard to not be stressed but sounds like you have a good backup plan.

    What are the return policies on car seats? Can you buy one just to last until the uppa baby one comes in? Or.....what about going ahead and buying a convertible one? Then you will have it for when you need it and when the infant one comes in just swap it out of your car.

    I have an uppa baby mesa and I'm super pleased with it. I'm betting you can still find the 2014 and have it expedited..the boutiques in my city are still selling them, mine was delivered in April after being ordered by the store. I'm also sure you can find online retailers that will expedite to you. Im sure the 2014 would fit in the new stroller. Uppababy also has adapters for all kinds of car seats not just their own. Best of luck! I hope you find a solution that is satisfactory for yourself!

    Agreed with @jesshrou we have both the infant car seat that attaches to our stroller and a convertible car seat that is good for infant-booster seat.

    How much will you be driving and in what kind of traffic? I think I'd be fine just using the friends for a little bit. I totally agree with @amark11 I've been displacing a lot totally nervous about all the unknown stuff
