started primrose, anyone experience this?

So I decided to give primrose a try for the first time last night. When I saw my OB earlier this week, he said that baby girl is okay to come whenever she wants since I had a pretty serious back injury earlier in my pregnancy that has caused a lot of issues and she has been down in my birth canal for weeks making my back worse. He checked my cervix and said I was 1cm dilated and really low, not sure if he meant effaced? That was on monday, yesterday was Wednesday and I was 35w6d and I had, sorry tmi, diarrhea two times during the day which is odd for me. I put my first primrose in vaginally after poking a hole in it at 11:25pm but a half hour later I had to get up and had diarrhea again so I put a new primrose in, because I wasn't sure if I lost the first, at 12:35am. I've been having lots of contractions throughout the night but that's pretty typical for me lately. Well all the sudden, I woke up with diarrhea again at 3:45am with the urge to throw up also. Too tired to put a new primrose in tonight but was wondering if all this diarrhea just sounds like my body clearing itself out to get ready for labor? It's all green because it's going through me so fast. Has anyone else experienced this? I didn't have this happen with my first pregnancy, this pregnancy has been completely different from my first though so not sure what to expect. I'm now 36 weeks and dr has said she is welcome to come anytime and expected it to be sooner rather than later.

  • I think diarrhea is pretty common in pregnancy. I've been battling it for about a week and haven't taken EPO or RRL or anything like that. My scan didn't show any changes to my cervix yesterday, so I highly doubt that my tummy trouble mean emanate labor in my case.

  • I've been taken EPO orally for a week, simply because I'm too paranoid to try it vaginally. I may have to try it though.
  • If you check the daily symptoms thread you will see that many of us are having tummy troubles in the last 4-6 weeks. I would definitely call your doc of concerned though.

Also, there is a big thread about primrose oil from yesterday or the day before - if you search for it you will find a lot of people here have shared their experiences with it.

    Good luck!
  • My friend just had her baby on May 10 at 37 weeks, 5 days. She had been taking evening primrose oil and raspberry leaf tea to help with labor. Well, she started having really bad contractions on Friday. (She had the baby on Sunday). Friday night she told me she inserted 2 evening primrose oils vaginally and wondered if that was causing her pain. Maybe epo is to blame for your diarrhea/wanting to throw up. Her contractions were bad enough to make her projectile vomit 4 times. So of course she went to the hospital and labored until the following day. But baby is completely healthy.
