What You're Doing To GKU: Waiting for that jerk, AF, to pack up and go. I was not excited to see her today. Also, prenatals, temping, and drinking lots of water.

Rants/Raves/Chart Stalks: Now that I'm on CD1, I can officially verify that I didn't O in my last cycle. That makes me a bit nervous. Also, AF came on the worst possible day. She showed up this evening, and DH and I are leaving in in four hours on a nine-hour roadtrip to Texas. Hooray for nine hours in the car on my period! On a related note, I need to go to bed...

GTKY- When you were in kindergarten, what did you want to be when you grew up? My mom. She was a homemaker, and as far as I'm concerned, a rock star. There's actually a part of me that still thinks that I would love that.

Rants/Raves/Chart Stalks: Watery CM! My body is actually doing something! First month charting but I didn't notice any change last month. I have a history of no ovulation/no periods/irregular cycles so this is really positive for me.

GTKY- When you were in kindergarten, what did you want to be when you grew up? An artist or a writer (I used to fill books up with stories. Mum was a teacher so maybe I never had a chance lol!)

I always wanted to be a babysitter because I went to a home daycare and she was like my second mom. I am currently a teacher. I've taught preschool, kinder, and now 1st grade. So I guess I'm pretty on track.

Rants/Raves/Chart Stalks: AF should be leaving today. I'll start with the OPKs on Sunday. Rough estimate is that I'll O sometime during our family trip to Disney World. While I can't wait for the vacation, it's not exactly a romantic environment when you're sharing a room!

GTKY- When you were in kindergarten, what did you want to be when you grew up? A ballerina or a veterinarian. Unfortunately, I'm a short, curvy klutz, and while I worked for a vet in high school and loved the animals, I really didn't like some of the owners.

Rants/Raves/Chart Stalks: I HAVE A QUESTION BUT WAS TOO SCARED TO START A THREAD.

If you take an OPK and the test line is there and isn't as dark, I know that's a negative. But does it mean anything? Does it mean you're gearing up to ovulate and it will get darker as you get closer or is it just a random line? I ask because last month I never got a positive even though I had other signs of ovulation, but I did get one line. Yesterday I peed on a stick for the heck of it and got a faint line as well even though I shouldn't ovulate for a few more days.

Also, when I go to check my CP, I can't seem to reach it. Am I just being dumb or am I a freak of nature?

If it's almost as dark, then you are close to getting a +. If I take one at like 2pm and it's almost there, I take another one in the evening. Usually by then it will be a positive! Charting helps after the fact by confirming the O day, OPKs just give you a heads up that it's about to happen, so if it's almost positive BD anyways!

@FiancB CP is tricky, there are a few of us on here who report not being able to reach it. I never have, but I'm okay with it. I think CM and temps are reliable enough.

I don't do OPKs so I can't help out there sorry

Today is my third day with the same temp, really really hoping my bbt isn't taking a crap on me!! Luckily I know that I should ovulate this weekend so if I just have a bunch of sex, we should be ok.

I honestly have no clue, but like a lot of other people, I do definitely remember a period of time when I was young I wanted to be a SAHM!

@FinacB CP changes throughout the month too. When you get closer to ovulation it should be higher, harder to reach, and open. That may be the case if you are also seeing a faint line on your OPK. It sounds like you are about to ovulate in the next few days. I say BD!

Also, do you have FF? Are you charting? If you enter all that info into FF you should get crosshairs in a few days if your signs keep pointing toward the big O.

Which OPK are you using? Also, are you temping? Seasoned bumpies will tell you that you may not be able to catch your surge on an OPK but you will when you temp. As far as checking your CP goes, it may just be high in your cycle right now. I normally check mine while sitting on the toilet. HTH

@FiancB We have the same problems!

I have NEVER turned an OPK positive, even though my temps have shown an ovulation shift. My first cycle I was only testing 1X a day and only with the expensive digital OPKs, so yeah, I learned my lesson. My 2nd and 3rd cycles I used wondfos and tested 2X a day last cycle and 3X this one. In both of those I finally started seeing some faint, then darker lines that would kind of fade in over a day or so, then fade out, never getting anywhere near a true positive. Because I always marked all of them as - in FF, I would only get dashed crosshairs even with my temp shift, along with a note that "other fertility signs" aren't agreeing or whatever.

So, I searched the board archives and found some mentions that some ladies do experience this fade in/out effect, so I've decided that for me, personally, I'm now considering the darkest day to be a +. So far this cycle, that darkest day was CD15 and that's matching up nicely with my temps. And when I put in one more high temp for tomorrow, I get solid CHs on CD16, too. So I think maybe my surge just isn't high enough, or the actual peak happens just so fast that I can't catch it on a test. Of course, if my temp goes down tomorrow, then that's all wrong. :-/

Re: CP, I can't reach mine either, and I tried at the beginning of this last cycle around CD4 or so. Since my O date is shaping up to be CD16, I should've been able to feel it at that time, I think. I've tried on the toilet, squatting in the shower... I've since given up on that little bit of monitoring.

And, yes, you can all feel free to tell me how I'm just a weirdo.

What You're Doing To GKU: No luck after TTC #2 for over a year on our own, so we're now working with an RE and this month we're trying Femara + IUI. I continue to temp, chart, and use OPKs. I'm trying not to get too excited but I'm so hopeful that it'll work out!!

Rants/Raves/Chart Stalks: This is the first month that I've taken Femara (CD3-7) and my temperatures have been elevated so far as compared to other months. It'll be interesting to see what happens with my overall chart this month. I ovulate on my own regularly and have predictable cycles, so I'm curious if this will change things at all.

GTKY- When you were in kindergarten, what did you want to be when you grew up? I'm impressed that you all can remember! I have very few memories from age 5! I remember at some point wanting to be a secretary when I was super young just because that's what my mom did back then. For my DD, I've been doing video interviews of her each year on her birthday and this is one of the questions I ask her so she can look back someday and see how her dreams have changed.

Cool, I'm not crazy. I'm using the wondfos. I know they're sort of optional and an added bonus, but I would just like the darn things to confirm my suspicions! Even though last month was my first off the pill, I had a fairly obvious temp shift plus EW, so whatever, I'm pretty sure I ovulated. I have tried to find my CP at a few points through my cycle but it always feels pretty much the same, maybe a little lower during LP, but still not low enough to figure out if it's soft or firm or whatever.. I'll keep trying and I am checking it every other day since maybe changes will be more obvious. But good to know I'm not necessarily doing anything wrong.

days of the flashing smiley and never got the solid smiley to indicate
rise in LH. I ended up not ovulating last cycle (Based on BBT) but this
might be because it was my first cycle off BCP.

Rants/Raves/Chart Stalks: Nothing really, but this last cycle I got my cycle length in days down pact now, so I think this month it gonna be a good one, oh, and SCIENCE! Embracing the science is my mantra this month.

@FiancB - my line does get darker when I approach ovulation and then fades back again. I have missed a true positive a couple times where it was close to positive at one point in the day and already fading later that day, so might be a blink-and-you'll-miss-it thing sometimes. I use the wondfos too.
