Update on dad's cancer diagnosis

So here's the update:

Dad has stage one adenocarcinoma in the upper left lobe of his lung. Because he has already had one lobe of his right lung removed, and has COPD and slight emphysema, they are not going to do surgery this time around because it would lower his lung capacity too greatly. They are going to do radiation treatment because it is more targeted than chemo. They meet with the radiologist tomorrow to discuss the details. As far as they know, the cancer has not spread anywhere, but he may have a brain scan done as a precaution.

All in all, good news for now. Thanks everyone for your support.

I missed your past post(s) about this, but my thoughts and prayers will be with your dad and your family that radiation takes care of it. Cancer just plain sucks.

i am going to go out on a limb and assume that stage 1 is early....which is good? if you got good news...then that's all that matters! daddy's are the best, after all!

Stage 0 is the best, but stage 1 means it's contained and hasn't spread anywhere...which is definitely a good thing! My dad is a fighter though...as I was weeping on the phone the other night he said, "It's not over until *I* say it is." You go dad!
