Annoying comment that I way overreacted to....

So the older (close to retirement) lady that I work with asks me at lunch if I'll get hooked on day time TV when I have the baby since there won't be much to do but sit on the floor with the baby and watch TV........I kinda overreacted and got mad....but seriously! She has 2 boys.....she should know that you don't just sit on your arse all day. She said how bored she got playing with her kids on the floor. I was so in awe of my first born that I can't say I ever got bored with her....she is 7 and I still don't.

Sorry...just needed to quick rant.

    That's rude. I never got bored with my lil man. He's two now and if anything I'm the only one in the family who doesn't have time to watch any tv between keeping his never ending empty stomach full, cleaning up his tornado disasters and doing all of the household chores. cooking and gardening. I'm not even sure how I'll find time for a second. haha. And at that age they're so teeeny and adorable who wants to watch the tv when you can stare at them. Plus I had a hard time finding a time where my son would sleep or be quiet enough to even get a full shower in. I spent more time half showered than fully showered those first few months. I'd be offended. I don't get how mom's who've been there and done that don't get how much work it takes to be a good involved parent. I can't imagine that's how she spent all of her time... crazy.

    I don't have any kids of my own yet. This will be my first, but I know from when I babysit my 6mnth old niece and nephew there is zero time to sit and watch tv. Rotating between changing diapers and feeding then comforting. They have an older brother, my 5 year old nephew, it was almost impossible with him unless he was watching something with me. Those were rare times. I always wanted to spend that time interacting with him and playing together with his toys so I don't see how stay at home moms have much time for anything.

    Id be annoyed too. I am generally an easy going and understanding person but lately if someone does something rude or inconsiderate I let them know! And when I do Im not affraid to have the b!tch face on haha.

    Boo that lady! I agree rude and I feel w a newbie I was never bored and always had something to do . Some people should just stay quiet if they have nothing better to say .

    Hahaha I'm totally opposite. My newborn slept all the time if she wasn't eating. She was a very easy baby. Even now she mostly entertains herself while I get things done. This could mean number 2 will be the complete opposite.

    I'm sure she wasn't saying it to be rude.

    DD was like this. I used to sit and play Wii while we nursed. She ate every 2 hours for 45 minutes. You can only stare at your baby so much. But she was an easy baby. And cooking and cleaning fell to DH. I did baby duty and slept for pretty much the first 12 weeks. It was great.

    Agreed as well - but my son was a dream and that's all I really did on maternity leave besides the obvious of taking care of him.

    Who has time for TV much less soap operas?! Good gracious! Plus if I ever had the tv on it was playing baby Einstein or other educational videos, not things for my entertainment
