2nd Trimester

Headaches everyday

So today is the start of my second trimester.. I've been having headaches everyday for the last 5 days. Still there when I go to bed, there greeting me when I wake up they get worse as the day goes on.. My blood pressure was checked about 5 days prior to them starting and was fine so im not convinced it's that.. Is anyone having this problem and does anything work for you?

Re: Headaches everyday

  • Dehydration can cause them, as can zofran if you're taking it. Either of those possible? Hope you feel better.

  • I used to get migraines every day and if drinking more water doesn't work and it's not zofran then you could try b12 vitamin. I started doing a shot every two-three weeks and that kicked me headaches out completely.
  • Thanks fr the replies. I'm not taking zofran, im maybe not drinking enough water.. Probably about 3 small bottles a day? I'll up the water and see if that works.
  • You can also try taking a magnesium supplement if it is not included in your prenatal. It was recommend here by a few posters; I tried it and it really helped! I'm down to headaches about once or twice a week instead of every day. Also certainly try upping your water :)
  • This happened to me as well.  I woke up every day with a headache that would not relent.  I attributed it to allergies as well because I always get sinus headaches.  Try a cold compress on the back of your neck.

  • I drank an absolute ton of water Sunday night and all day yesterday, no headache which was fantastic.. Can feel one creeping up on me today though

Keep a record of your heart rate. It will rise as you get more dehydrated (unless you take medication such as a beta blocker). Maybe you will start to see a pattern between the two.
  • My doctor told me headaches are very normal 17-20 weeks along due to hormones. He told me to drink plenty of water and if they get too bad take the recommended dose of Tylenol. I have been toughing it out and not taking medicine but sometimes it is really hard. Hopefully they start to go away for you the further along you get.
  • I'm only 14+4 days so not in the 17-20 stage yet, I've not been bad the last two days could be the extra water, I think it scared me more as I had nosebleeds constant for 5 days previous to the headaches.. I see the midwife next week will mention it all to her and see but so far so good with the increase of water
  • Sinus headaches for me have been the worst part of pregnancy this far. I used the target brand Tylenol (normal Tylenol oddly doesn't work for me) when it gets unbearable. And like they say above, drink plenty of water. The absolute minimum is 8 glasses a day.
