All-in-one baby registry?

Hey everyone! I'm a FTM and my husband and I are trying to decide where to register. We live 14 hours away from most of our family and friends so we want to make sure we pick a store or two that most people have near them... but what about an all-in-one registry? Has anyone used one before? Like this site https://babyli.st/? And if so, what are your thoughts about them? Thanks!

Yes! I am 1K miles to 2K miles from all my family and friends so I know the boat your in :)
We used Babyli.st and I love it so far. I have my Target and Rabies R Us linked to it, along with a few Amazon items and Etsy items. I love love love it so far!
The one and only piece of advise I'd give is if you do other store registries, like Target or whatever, make sure you LINK your registry and DO NOT import. Well, you can do either, but when you import it, you'll have to delete your store registry because it essentially double the items. Idk if this makes sense...?
If you link, it'll just have an icon you click on to take you directly to the store and it'll automatically pull up your registry there. This way, people can print it off in store and still look at it if they go onto the store website itself. Make sense?
If you import, it copies every item over to your baby list and so people wouldn't buy it off your registry-- that's why if you import, Babyli.st asks you to delete your store registry, so there isn't a store registry AND the same exact items on your Babyli.st. If person A bought a stroller you had on your Babyli.st and person B went into the store to get things off your store registry, it wouldn't show that the stroller was purchased.
I hope it makes sense. My SIL did this and it was an easy fix but could have been a mess. I hope I made sense...?

  • I have individual stores and use myregistry.com. I talked to a women who works at a store and she pointed out how important it is to have the individual stores done as well because if you just do the all in one, when a person goes into a store they will most likely NOT be able to pull up your all in one registry to find things quickly. But if you feel people will just order online and have it shipped to you straight from the store that wouldn't be too much of an issue.
  • I am using Babyli.st too -- I have loved the ease of setting up the registry... but my only worry is I am not sure how easy it will be for the older folks/non tech-saavy who are attending the showers (I know, I am so lucky to have two!!). Particularly since both of the showers are far away (one a 4hr drive one a 12 hr drive, therefore I will be flying), the hostesses are requesting that people ship the gifts to us-- I imagine the same may be true for the OP. So, it might be complicated because they will need to manually input our address to whatever website they are buying from... and the free cards from Babyli.st don't include your address, and as far as I can tell from the guest view the guests won't be able to see it, so we will also need to make sure it's included with the invitations

Anyway, to me it's definitely still worth it because we had a pretty wide variety of stores and websites we wanted to buy from. Assuming that everyone keeps the registry info and address insert put into the invitation, it shouldn't be super complicated for most people.
  • Oh, another thing re: BabyList I just double checked and apparently gift buyers will receive the shipping address via email when they reserve an item. I guess it is not that complicated but just adds an extra step compared to the traditional registry.

I use Amazon. You can add items to your registry from just about anywhere. Plus, I like the convenience of shopping on Amazon.

  • We're going to register at Babies R Us. If they don't have it, we don't need it. I think people like the option of ordering online or buying in a store.
  • Thanks everyone for your feedback! I really appreciate it!
