WWYD?

Had our anatomy scan today, baby is looking lovely and healthy and perfect.... from what she could see! Baby wasn't very cooperative at all and I am going back at 24 weeks for them to check the heart and a few things she couldn't do today.. super cool not a worry (and yay it's another wee glimpse at our baby later on!)

She asked if we wanted to know the sex of the baby which we said we would love to know..she asked what I thought it was to which I said a girl! She told me I was right and started referring to the baby as She, her, etc. But then at the end she told me she was only 90% sure and we would be able to confirm 100% at the scan at 24 weeks. I asked if I should tell people and she said to wait just in case.

Soooo I just want to know.. is 95% enough for you and would you tell people/start buying pink or would you wait another 5 weeks to have it confirmed 100%?

Re: WWYD?

  • I would wait....would hate to have stuff and have to return everything. That stinks!

  • Wait! It's more common for people to be told girl and find out it's a boy than the other way around :)
  • I would wait too!

  • As hard as it is I would wait! But I am not good at returning things!!

You know it's never actually 100% until they're born. There is always a chance they could be wrong. I'd say 90% is pretty good, but it sounds like she was less than 90% sure from what you're describing. I'd wait!

  • It is so hard to wait.  I got told at my last appt that it is 80% boy LOL.  I'm sort of like...well is there a penis or no?  At 80% boy you'd think it's pretty clear.  I'm trying to be patient and wait for my 20 week scan but it is so hard!  I have been looking at more boy stuff and pinning "boy" things.  I haven't registered yet though or told anyone besides my husband.  Why don't you start shopping around little girl stuff and that will hopefully help you wait a little longer.

  • I would tell my family, but not extended family and friends. I would just explain the 95% situation and leave it at that. I isn't like it's a big secret or anything, but wouldn't go as far as to announce in Facebook or anything. 95% is good and may be that she tells everyone she's 95% sure.
  • 95% is pretty sure I think. We saw our baby girl at 16 weeks and was told 70% sure it was a girl.. then yesterday at 19 weeks it was very clear it was a girl. I think it's OK to tell people. Why not. If it's a boy later on you say.. it's a boy! Lol. We started buying girl clothes after 16 weeks because we kept finding really good deals. And just saved the receipts.

She kept saying she could see the three white lines (which indicates a girl) and couldn't see any "dangly bits" !. I seen a real good shot of three white lines right at the start before she told me about the lines and just about shouted out "it's a girl! " haha how I managed to control myself I'm not sure. I feel like 90% is good odds but of course I would be super embarrassed if we had to turn around and say...actually its a boy! At the end of the day as long as baby is healthy I don't care what it is. I just want to start shopping hehe X
  • I told people after my last u/s. I told them we weren't 100% sure so we're not buying anything and not holding our breath. I was too excited to tell. I'm having twins and my other baby wouldn't cooperate, so we should find out/get confirmation today at my appointment or tomorrow at my anatomy scan. Just make sure people know it's not definite, if you decide to tell!
  • As hard as it is, wait until the 24 week appt :)
