Best Mothers Day Gift...

I work as a nurse in the ER. Last night when we slowed down my co workers surprised me by ultra sounding my baby :) I haven't seen our baby since 8w6d and I'm now 16w4d. I couldn't believe how much our peanut has changed. Moving like crazy in there, had the hiccups and was sucking it's thumb. It was amazing to see the transformation since my first US our baby actually looks like a tiny human being :) Anyone else out there get any nice mothers day surprises?

Re: Best Mothers Day Gift...

  • My husband bought me a globe for the nursery. We sat in bed all morning playing with it. And he took me out for lunch at my favorite restaurant. Wasn't sure if we were going to celebrate Mother's Day this year since I'll be a FTM. A nice surprise :)

The best gift was a big box of chocolate. Dh came back in to the bedroom to find the kids and me snuggled in bed at 8 am covered in chocolate.
  • My (almost) two year old insisted on "helping" me make waffles for breakfast yesterday morning. My husband doesn't cook at all, so it was special to have my kid help. I imagined that a few years from now, maybe the kids will be the ones making breakfast for me!

Also, my husband took me shopping and let me order a couple of things online for myself. My husband waking around the mall without a complaint is gift enough! :-)

  • My husband set up some presents and notes to go with each from the baby so when I woke up to go take the dogs out I found them. At the foot of our bed was a snoogle, then at the top of the stairs were some onesies that said something about mom being awesome. Then halfway down the stairs were some maternity pants (the note with these made me laugh. "As you can tell, I'm getting bigger. Here are some pants to help make it better". Basically my husband sweetly calling me fat. Haha). And in the kitchen were some roses.
  • This was my first Mother's Day. Just missed it last year since my sons first birthday is May 30th.
My husband bought me new outdoor furniture which we really need for his 1st birthday party. So excited!
Baby also gave me the most kicks I have ever gotten from he/she yet. Definitely enjoyed that.
  • My son took a two-hour nap!!  I slept for an hour of it!
  • My husband got me a wisteria bush, took me to several green houses, and planted our garden for Mother's Day :)
  • Spent a lovely afternoon talking with my mother and grandmother. We sat my grandmother's kitchen table, where I used to play and help her cook, and talked about motherhood, parenting and funny stories of when my dad and his siblings were kids.

When hubby and I were laying in bed talking about names that night, I felt LO moving! So much so that when I put my husband's hand on my bump he felt a light flutter. Guess someone wanted a say in the conversation. :D
