C-section/PPbleeding

Hi Ladies!
I'm a FTM and I ended up having to get a c-section. I'm now 4 weeks post partum and still bleeding. Sometimes it's nothing like it's finally going away then all the sudden it's a lot and bright red. Is this normal? How long did you bleed for after your c-section? I'm feeling really great and I've been cleared to workout again and wanting to get back into it but I'm worried I shouldn't with the bleeding.. Help!

  • This is my second c section and on Tuesday I will be 4 weeks out. I find that when I do a lot of walking or lifting that is when I have bleeding again but mine is not bright red.... I haven't been cleared to work out yet - not until my 6 week check up. Maybe you should hold off working out? Or just do a light work out.

  • Lifting things and stressing your body will certainly make you bleed more even if you thought it was done. I bled for 5 weeks pp. It tapered off at the end.

  • With my first c-section I bled for about 6 weeks. With my second it was close to 8 weeks. It was much like yours where I thought it was done & would then return. I noticed it did correlate to physical activity. I'd maybe hold off another week or so before exercising.

    Good news though, this time I don't think I even wore a pad home from the hospital. Each time can be so different.

    Listen to your body and don't rush the exercising. Let your body heal. I was told to wait at least 6 wks to exercise with C/S so you sound like you're on the early side of things. Good luck!
