STM: Hemmerrhoids--how long did they last after birth?--cross posted on 3rd tri.

OK, so I have a couple of really painful ones with about 3 weeks to go. I apparently had them with my first, but didn't seem to notice. How long after giving birth was it before they went away for you? just trying to prepare myself if they lasted a couple days, a couple weeks or months later, as these are a huge pain in the ass...pun intended.

Ugh, a while. I want to say 6-8 weeks but it's hard to remember (or I'm trying not to). The good news is you'll have better things to think about. They started to improve right away, just took a while to resolve completely.

Ummmm. I had a small one with DD and it never went away. It's been worse during this pregnancy but I fear it's there for good.

  • I'm not a STM, but they definitely don't always go away on their own! Some people end up having surgery. Hope that doesn't happen to you, but - well, let's just hope.
  • I had one with DS and it remained. Flared up here and there with this pregnancy. I plan to have it surgically removed (whether by banding or otherwise). I cannot live out the rest of my good sex years with a tag in my butthole. So friggin annoying!

  • Mine didn't go away until I had a laser treatment done 2 years after I had DS. (much less invasive). And I've developed new ones too.

I wanna say 6 weeks or less?
  • They don't really go away.. Unless it's surgery. They just get smaller... And pop back up if you strain...
  • My hemorrhoid is soo bad I can barely walk. It's the size of a grape. I am in so much pain using tucks prep h cream and wipes everything hot shower/bath . I don't know what to do anymore and I'm worried because I'm 37 weeks... I'm getting an epidural but will I be able to push if it hurts this bad ??
  • I got a really bad one during labor with my first and never really went away completely. There were times it would not be there but if I went poo twice in one day or something like that, it would irritate it and cause it to flare up. With this second pregnancy, it has gotten so much worse, can't wait to just have her so it will go back to normal for a bit.
